Champman's Homeless Shelterby Deanna Ver Schneider | February 29, 2016 5:26 PM
What an AWESOME day our group had at Chapman’s Homeless Shelter. We got to help prep some of the food and serve the homeless. We hung out and got to know the kitchen staff, and learn more about how this facility impacts Miami. With over 500 men, women and children served daily, this homeless shelter impacts a large portion of Miami’s homeless population.

Today part of the team headed off to Miami Children's Initiative. We got to hear from Cecilia about the heart of MCI and the difference they are making in the community. We picked up trash, painted a basketball court, organized the community kitchen, and ended our day by helping in the after school program! It was a busy day but so full of love from the community of Liberty City.

Homework Helpby Carissa Hildebrandt | February 29, 2016 8:49 PM
Those who worked with the older kids got to help them with homework. For some of the kids this was their only opportunity to get help with homework, since their parents might not be able to help them at home.

We ended our day with worship on the beach and a short devotional from Paige, one of the PPM staff. We sang Oceans, which went along perfectly with Paige's challenge for us tonight to step out of our comfort zones.

MCI- Cleaning bash!by Deanna Ver Schneider | March 2, 2016 12:25 PM
Yesterday we had the opportunity to partner with Miami Children's Initiative by cleaning homes in the projects where children with Asthma live. This ministry works to help the people in the projects get back on their feet. When we help clean, we are helping kids with asthma be able to breathe better in their own homes. When we clean, we are being the hands and feet of Jesus. After cleaning, we got to play with kids at the school l. It was so much fun! We enjoyed playing games and running around. It was so cool to see so much diversity in our own country!
A new day, a renewed focusby Deanna Ver Schneider | March 2, 2016 2:12 PM
Today, we went back to MCI to start our day off. We do divided and conquered two different rooms that were in desperate need of cleaning. Please pray for Liberty City and the residents who are stuck in a vicious cycle of poverty. Pray that MCI is able to help break the cycle and empower these people to succeed in school and in family life. Once we left MCI we headed over to His House, a foster facility. We helped clean some of the entry ways into the homes and then got to play with the kids! We had SUCH a blast. God is good and is pushing us to do more. We are ready! Bring it on!

Tucker fixing a bike. Love can be as simple as fixing a bike. Showing Jesus can be as simple as teaching a little boy to ride a bike without training wheels.
They will know we are Christians by our love.

Wrapping Up Our Weekby Carissa Hildebrandt | March 4, 2016 6:47 AM
Last night we took time to walk through our week one last time. We closed our eyes and relived the ministry we had done and remembered the people we had met. We then went around the circle sharing affirmations and hearing about how other people saw us during ministry this week and this year. The night was closed down by one last worship set from Hannah, Michael, and Josh. A call to action to take what we have learned, seen, and done here. The mission to follow Christ and step out of the boat for him is never done.
