Update from St. Marks/Wheelersburg
We have arrived safely!!

by Emily Porter | June 16, 2009 8:32 AM

We promptly arrived in Montego Bay yesterday afternoon! We were greeted by a rain shower as we drove along the beautiful Jamaican coast to Hopewell where we settled into the Hopewell Deliverance Center. After unpacking and getting used to our home for the week, we visited Hopewell Baptist Church and met Paster O'Niel Brown. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner of chicken, fish, and rice and "peas" (aka beans). Tuesday we are looking forward to morning devotions in a local high school, construction at the church and mission house, and Vacation Bible School! We appreciate your prayers and will be keeping you updated and posting pictures in the days to come!

Caleb, I am so proud of you and all the other youth and adults that have sacrificed their time away from their loved ones and stepped out of the comfort of your homes to make a difference in the lives of others. I just know that you are being blessed as we were blessed 10 fold on the Mexican Misson trip. These experiences will stay with you the rest of your life and will hopefully impact some of the decisions you will make down the road. Hope you enjoy your last couple days there and keep your heart open to what God is calling you to do. Our prayers are going out for all of you. We miss and love you Caleb and can't wait to see you in a few days! Love, Mom

Rely on the Lord as you come near the finish line of your experience. He is beside you and will carry you across no matter the circumstance. Be calmed by the knowledge that you were chosen to answer that part of the Lord's Prayer that says, "thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven". How awesome that you've had the opportunity to be Kingdom builders!

Good Morning! What a thunderstorm we had in Findlay! It made me think of the story of when Jesus was sleeping on the boat with his discipes in the midst of a storm...his disciples were afraid yet the Lord rested peacefully. When they could bear their fear no more, they woke their Lord...he rebuked the storm and there was calm. Isn't it something that Jesus knew the peace of His Father so well that he slept through the storm!? Check it out in Mark 4 and see what the Lord wants to reveal to you. Another good storm story is when Peter walks on water (Mt 14)...WOW ...when He kept His eyes on Jesus He could do the impossible! May the Lord bless you for getting out of the boat and may you keep your eyes on Jesus ane watch Him do the impossible in your life!!! Be encouraged and strengthened in your faith as you serve our Lord!

My prayer for all of you is from Ephesians 3:14-21 the one that Paul prayed for the Church at Ephesus. I'm praying it for the Church that is in Jamaica! Check it out!!! May you KNOW how much you are Loved by God so that you may Love others in the way He loves you...relentlessly and abundantlly! May you know that the strength that is in you comes from our Risen Savior...that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in every believer through the Holy Spirit!!! May you know that you can do all things and that there is nothing that is impossible with God because of what Jesus did for us on the Cross! Serve in His love, grace and strength! Thank God for your safe arrival. We enjoy reading your journal entries. You are keeping busy in the Lord's work and for it you will be richly blessed. Your ocean views as indicated by the photos are a departure from the misty, cloudy view here in Findlay this morning. Isn't God wonderful ? Here we are communicating God's Kingdom work from such a distance. From creation God has been the master of communication. He's been speaking with us heart to heart! Know that daily our hearts, through Christ, are with each of you. Have a spirit-filled week. Hi to Kayla and Chelsea.

Enjoy yourself and stay focused on the mission that you have been tasked to do. I am so proud of the accomplishments you have achieved already in your life but I think I am the most proud of what you are not only doing for the people there but what you're doing for yourself. You and everyone else are a part of something very special. After all this is over, only then will you realize what an impact you had on another person's life. Wow...overwhelming! I am so proud of you and I miss you very much! I LOVE YOU PUNKIN!
