Count your Blessings! by Brent Kirk | July 3, 2016 4:03 PM
Today was an awesome day! First, we had a few hours sleep to catch up then an awesome jamaican breakfast at 6:30 am. After breakfast we loaded the bus and drove an hour to the York Street Church of Christ for worship services. What an amazing message today!! We didn't know most of the songs and they did not have hymnals to pass out but the worship was still great!! After a 3 hour service, the ladies of the church prepared a great lunch for us. They served us Curry chicken, rice and a small salad and Pepsi!!
After lunch we went to first the residence at the Golden Age Infirmary. What a blessing!!! The residence are awesome! Some are physically or mentally challenged but that does not stop them from interacting with us for even a moment. We were greeted by many as we got off the bus. As we went around the different quads that they live in we met a lot of new friends! We made bracelets for them, passed out stuffed teddy bears (left by another team to pass out) and told stories, listened to theirs and so much more. I don't know who received the bigger blessing, the of us. What a great day!
We are now back at the lodging facility for showers, VBS prep for tomorrow and maybe even a quick little nap.
Overall simply an awesome day! Dinner at 6:30 tonight then devotions! We cant wait to see what tomorrow will bring. Building projects, VBS, and school ministry. Thank you for your prayers as we serve this week.
Here is a great picture of Mark and Jason laughing it up with one of the residence who loves to play and have fun!!
Teddy Bearsby Brent Kirk | July 3, 2016 4:13 PM
We passed out about 50 teddy bears to the residence and they loved them although several were terrified of them and didn't want to touch them or have one.

Michael struggling to make a bracelet. He finally did it and gave one to one of the nurses. I was proud of him for completing his task.

VBS by Brent Kirk | July 4, 2016 10:33 PM
Today we held our day 1 VBS at the Rollington Town Primary School. We had about 100 students. They were loud, fun and full of energy. We played games, sang songs, shared Bible stories and more . Everyone had a blast and the kids were awesome! After VBS the school fed us a lunch that was great! Curried goat, fried chicken, rice, and salad. We were stuffed!!! After lunch we drove over to the York Street Church of Christ to start our projects.
Bringing down blessings! by Brent Kirk | July 4, 2016 10:38 PM
Today was full of lots of hard work, sweat and toil! From tearing down concrete walls with sledge hammers and crow bars to moving tons of hard packed dirt and leveling ground to make way for a parking area to busting up big rock into little rocks. Even in 100 degree weather and working in direct sunlight the team never stopped. They were determined to work hard and rest later. Lots of headway was made today and tomorrow bring even more. Instead of tearing down wall we will be building them. We will begin building a new kitchen for the church. They are excited for this to happen and have been praying a long time for it. Bammel has blessed this small church with great things!! Thank you Bammel!!
