We have arrived!

by Jessica Janicki | July 16, 2016 11:11 PM

We made it to Pittsburgh! We did have some van troubles, but God is good, and we are here! This week we are serving with First Southern Baptist from Evansville, Indiana. We are so excited to get to know them and work with them to love on the city of Pittsburgh!

Day One

by Jessica Janicki | July 17, 2016 9:06 PM

We had such a great day today! We got a chance to worship with Grandview Church of God. We loved the worship, and the message that Pastor Randy shared. He spoke today on loving people around us in this crazy world. It was such a great message and a reminder that we need to be like Jesus and love all those around us, like He did. At the end of the service, the whole church gathered around us and prayed for us and the mission we are on this week. We were so blessed! For lunch, we headed down to the Strip District. This is part of Pittsburgh's Cultural District. We got a chance to get some Pittsburgh gear, and try food from around the world! We loved it! We are so excited for tomorrow, and what God has in store for us! He is moving, and we are humbled to be a part of it!

Prayer, Painting and Kids

by Jessica Janicki | July 18, 2016 9:58 PM

Rain and Thunder greeted us this AM, but we didn't let it deter us. While First Southern Baptist worked on painting around the church where we are staying, we spent time in prayer. We did a brief prayer training, and our devo while we waited for the rain to stop. After it stopped, we prayed over the few church buildings, Pastor Randy's house and the entrance to the church parking lot. We are excited to get out into the community tomorrow morning. For lunch, we headed over to Northview Heights, and Church of Our Savior to participate in the Kids Meal Network. This program feeds kids who may not otherwise be getting a meal at home, since school is out. We got to play, love and share Jesus with the kids who hung around after lunch. We can't wait to go back tomorrow to keep building these relationships. For dinner, we headed to Primanti Brothers! It's THE Pittsburgh Sandwich. It's got fries and slaw on it...you can't go wrong, and we loved it! Thank you for supporting us as we serve. Please keep us in prayer as we keep serving and loving the people of Pittsburgh

God of this city

by Jessica Janicki | July 19, 2016 10:29 PM

"You're the Light in this darkness You're the Hope to the hopeless You're the Peace to the restless" We had a chance to pray for this city this morning. We walked the neighborhood around Grandview Church. We prayed for the people, the homes, the hurts and needs. It was a powerful time. We made our back to Northview Heights for the Kids Meal Network, and had a chance to just keep loving on those kids and Pastor Diana. We even go to share Jesus with kids who had never heard of him before! After dinner, we headed to Mount Washington, and took the Duquesne Incline up to the top of the mountain. We looked out over the beautiful city of Pittsburgh, and prayed for it. We prayed for peace, hope, joy and love. We prayed for chains to be broken, for lives to be changes. We prayed for Jesus to rest over the city. We closed out with some worship, and just sat in God's presence. God has big things for this city, and we are so blessed to be a part of the work He is doing!
