We made it!
We had our orientation to the week, talked about our schedule, prayed with our new teammates, and are about to crash!
Join us in lifting up our week as we reach out to encourage and uplift those around us!

This morning we got to experience a Bahamian church service. It was a special service to honor all of the graduates. The team really enjoyed it and they are looking forward to the island tour along with a few other stops on the day!! The week is finally starting!! Prayers for the locals along and us are still greatly appreciated!

Yesterday afternoon had a lot of different emotions for us. First we went to South Beach, this is a beach where Haitians looking for a better life make their way to the Bahamas. We spent time in prayer for them as we walked out exactly where they will walk.
Then we got to hang out a secluded beach with some of the youth from St. Michael's Church! It was a full day that's for sure. Today we get started on some construction and children's ministry. Continue to pray for us and the people we'll come in contact with.

This morning we started giving back to the community that has been so welcoming to us by deep cleaning and fixing the patio of the church that is hosting us, Saint Michael's Methodist. We had been sweeping, cleaning windows and pews, and fixing up the patio all morning. We are SO PUMPED for the rest of this week!

Some of the community kids also came to the church to spend time with us. They are so full of energy and joy and spending time with them has been so much fun!

This afternoon we spent time at an orphanage which housed six children with special needs. We also got to meet the cousin of the bus driver that has been transporting us all over the island this week. It was awesome to see how important and strong the bonds of family are here in the Bahamas. We also spent time cleaning the yard and windows of the orphanage. It was hard to say goodbye to the kids but it was a great afternoon!

This morning got off to a wet start as you saw in the previous post. It changed our plans a little, but we don't let that discourage us. As soon as the rain passed we got right back to work on the deck. Some of that work entailed simply taking out A LOT of nails from the boards! We definitely "Nailed" it so far today. Get it? "Nailed" it??
Anyway, we are making the best of the bad weather and getting excited for what's to come this afternoon. We can't wait to tell you all about it.

This afternoon we got the privilege to go and visit one of the local nursing homes. We got to hang out, make crafts, and play bingo with the residents.
We we also got to attend the churches revival service tonight and hear from a guest speaker. It was truly powerful and we love being adopted into this church family and community.

This morning we drove to the Nazareth Center for Children to spend time with the residents. The kids were SO MUCH FUN. We ran races, jumped rope, decorated cross necklaces, and had our hair braided. It wasn't easy to leave the kiddos that we have already grown so close to.

This afternoon we packed up bags full of food and delivered those bags to families in the neighborhoods surrounding Saint Michael's. It was really awesome to be able to meet, get to know, and pray for the families we met. Some of the families even invited us into their homes. Getting to know the locals this week has certainly been a highlight of this trip!
