After getting all our medical supplies through customs (which was a breeze), we ate a delicious lunch at Eustice's BBQ - - - yummy :) We then boarded the bus for the hour+ ride to our mission site, the Northern Regional Hospital in Orange Walk.

First Surgery Day

Once we did acclimate to our new surgical environment - - - our surgery day became more fluent and we were able to complete the 25 surgeries by 8PM. The schedule included primarily of cholecystectomies, tonsillectomies, and hernia repairs. This youngster is looking forward to a popsicle to sooth his sore throat.

Dr Richard and Dr Kevin visit with Mom and patient prior to surgery. Tuesday was another full day of surgery with 27 cases, starting around 9AM and ending around 9PM. Pray for a good night's rest and renewed strength.

Each surgical patient spent a minimum of one hour in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit before transferring to the Recovery Room.

On Friday we traveled to Caye Caulker to enjoy a day at the beach and snorkel near the barrier reef - - - and tickle the tummy of a 'nurse' shark :)
