The Team Has Made It!by Amanda Mataczynski | March 8, 2014 8:01 PM
The team has safely made it to Dolton!
Day one was a lot of hard work but incredibly rewarding!
Half the group went to Dorchester where they were able to have coffee with the Mayor and be introduced to the city of Dolton as participants there to support their community and serve them. After that the team helped clean the facilities and visited with the residents. So many members of the group absorbed this experience, and it was amazing to see them step out in boldness and compassion.
We ended the evening with an AMAZING dinner by our cook K.C. - we were spoiled!
The Peace Centerby Liz Drennan | March 9, 2014 4:23 PM
Saturday was a busy day for half of our team. We traveled to the neighborhood of Englewood to The Peace Center. The center is a community center to keep kids off the streets. There will soon be a soup kitchen also in the building. Our team worked hard to helping the center. We worked cleaning out too rooms and organizing donations. These rooms will soon be used as a clothes closet for the soup kitchen. The rest of us worked hard to transform the kids area of the center. A group organized books to create a library and computer lab for after school. A group of our guys worked to create a weight room for the boys who come to the center. Some of our guys with artistic talent even painted a mural! We are loving getting to serve here in Chicago. We can't wait to see what the rest of our time here holds!
Team Time in the Cityby Amanda Mataczynski | March 10, 2014 9:21 AM
Yesterday the team spend most of their time in the beautiful downtown Chicago!
To start off their day, they joined New Community Church in their morning service where they learned that their character will be tested by the enemy but to remain in God and his direction over our lives.
After church, the team ate lunch and hopped on buses to make their way to the city. They visited the aquarium and ate real Chicago pizza! After they ate, they still had food left, so they did an impromptu street ministry where they distributed the left overs and visited with customers at Starbucks. The kids were bold and on fire!
Our closing meeting was a great wrap up of worship and affirmations.
Looking forward to a packed day of ministry today! We'll be traveling between 4-5 ministry locations and prayer walking!

A Day Packed With Ministry!by Amanda Mataczynski | March 11, 2014 1:28 AM
The students had a packed day full of ministry - anywhere from food shelf, picking up garbage, prayer walks, visiting the community members, and evangelizing. Everyone walked away with impact full moments from each and loved sharing!
We ended the night with affirmations, where we saw God, and communion. The kids closed the night on fire for God and ready to take the flame home.
