We made it! by Deanna Ver Schneider | April 12, 2014 11:19 PM
After a long drive across the desert we finally made it to West Side Church of God! We got to meet Pastor Sean and his wonderful family and we are excited to see how God is going to move us. For dinner we went to this really cool local pizzeria/grocery store/ coffee shop called Time Market. It was really neat. They had all different flavors and types of sodas. Overall it was a great first day and we would appreciate your prayers as we prepare for Palm Sunday and the Ministries for the week. (Picture coming soon!)

Palm Sundayby Deanna Ver Schneider | April 14, 2014 12:58 AM
Today, Palm Sunday, was an incredible way to start our week partnering with Creekside. Pastor Sean brought the word this morning and it was powerful. The Lord is faithful, even though He knew he was going into Jerusalem to be crucified, he went because he was faithful. Praise God!!
After the powerful message, we enjoyed a potluck lunch with the church members and got to be a part of the congregation for a day.
We also had the opportunity to visit San Xavier Mission, a Catholic Church/school. Don't let us forget to show you the beauty we saw!
The rest of our day was filled with preparations for construction, including building our own ladders and buying supplies at Lowes. Tomorrow we will start full force on a couple different roofing and painting projects. There is also a ministry called Gap Ministries who we will be partnering with for a little bit tomorrow. Please pray for our hearts to be on mission for God and for us to have our lives changed by impacting someone for the Glory of God.

Gap Ministriesby Deanna Ver Schneider | April 17, 2014 12:11 PM
On Monday we had the opportunity to go to GAP ministries. We didn't really understand what we were getting ourselves into nor just how many people GAP serves until we arrived. The place was HUGE and it had a kitchen, where some of us cooked lunch and prepped some meals for this week. It also had a giant food pantry stock full of produce, healthy foods and some not-so-healthy foods. Rick, one of the guys that runs the show at GAP ministries, said that the food pantry and the kitchen serves the needy, including those who live in their foster care system! Their warehouse stores lots of items for just about anything you can think of. They have doors, sinks, bedding, tools, lightbulbs, EVERYTHING, and they will sell at a discounted rate or give those items to other churches or non-profit organizations so that those organizations can serve others.
It is difficult to explain everything they do, but they do ALOT for the community and the Lord has greatly rewarded their efforts.
We got to serve there by sorting, sizing, repackaging and shelving some bedding items as well as cook lunch for all the workers at GAP. It was truly a blessing we will not soon forget!

Once we got back from Gap, we got right to work on the house next to the church. Some of us got up on the roof to fix the hole and repair other leaks while others started painting the trim around the roof. The weather was beautiful! We actually had a lot of fun working on the house. We did everything without complaining or discord. It was such a beautiful picture of the church coming together to help someone in a physical, practical way.
At the end of the night, we had the opportunity to watch a Lunar Eclipse. For some of us, it was our first time actually watching one! It was truly incredible. We couldn't get over the perfection of creation, of the universe. How massive, how beautiful, how incredible it is! God is good, God is powerful. God is worthy to be praised!
