We Made It!!

by Eric Richardson | July 19, 2014 9:25 PM

Though our day was long and busy, we are so excited to say that we have officially made it to Haiti! We are looking forward to ministering and working in the community this week, and know that God has incredible blessings in store!

The Lord's Day

by Brittni Loar | July 21, 2014 8:12 PM

We awoke refreshed and renewed to begin a day of praising the Lord in Haiti. We attended church at Mariani which is where we will be partnering this week. The service was absoluety wonderful! God is evident in everything they do. After church, we took some time to train ourself in sharing the gospel by sharing our life story with one another. It was an eye opening experience as we got out of our comfort zone and learned about our brothers and sisters in Christ. The day ended with a Haitian meal and worship to our God! Our has been good to us since arriving and we can't wait to see what He's gonna do.

Ministry Day 1

by Brittni Loar | July 21, 2014 8:35 PM

We began our first ministry day by visiting Good Shepherd Orphanage. To began our VBS, we worshipped with all the kids then split them up into different stations. The stations included Bible stories, crafts, and games. It was so much fun beginning these relationships with the kids. After the orphanage visit, we walked up the hill to Mariani. The church is almost complete but there are several small things that still need work. We passed buckets of cement to help fill holes. As some of us passed buckets, others played with some of the kids in the community. We are thankful to be apart of this ministry. It was a wonderful day of serving the Lord!

Day 2

by Brittni Loar | July 22, 2014 8:41 PM

We started out day 2 at the church in Mariani passing the buckets of cement and the blocks of cement. Again, we are beyonf thankful for this opportunity to be working alongside the Haitian church. While some of us worked hard at construction, others entertained some of the kids from the community. We learned Creole and played many jump roping games. Our relationships are deepening each day we go there! For the afternoon, we headed out to Good Shepherd to deepen those relationships. Our Bible story for VBS was the Samaritan woman touching the end of Jesus' robe. James (our Haitian staff) made the story come to life by acting every single detail out. It was touching to see the kids so intrigued at his teaching. After the story, we went into our crafts and games to finish out the VBS. These kids are capturing our hearts each day!

Kids, kids, and more kids!

by Brittni Loar | July 23, 2014 8:25 PM

We jumped back into our routine at Mariani passing buckets and blocks. There were even more kids than the previous days so we gathered them all together to sing and dance with them. It was priceless seeing their smiles and hearing their laughter. After our dance party, we jumped back in the bucket line to conquer our work project. All glory to God, we finished the stairs at the bottom of the stairs!

And More Kids!

by Brittni Loar | July 23, 2014 8:40 PM

Our afternoon was spent with the kids at Good Shepherd Orphanage. Each day when we come into the gates, the community kids are already there for Sister Mona's feeding program. As always, they greeted us with their precious smiles and sweet hugs. We pitched in to help them get their food and eat. After, we set up our VBS stations. Again, James did an amazing job with our Bible story! When it was time for us to leave, Sister Mona had all the kids and us to take a group picture to thank all the supporters of the orphanage. What a sweet memory!

Fun Day!

by Brittni Loar | July 24, 2014 9:28 PM

Instead of heading out to our ministries, we took a day to explore all the beauty Haiti has to offer. We hear so much in the media how messed up Haiti is but did that beach prove them wrong! Haiti is full of beautiful scenery but more importantly beautiful people. We started the day with a drive into the mountains to see out over the city. After we snapped some good pictures, we drove back down the mountain for a tasty lunch at Epi'Dor. For the first time in a week we ate a typical American lunch: hamburger and fries! We ended the day with the beach. We swam and swam until it was time to leave. It was a wonderful day!
Fun Day!
