The Team has Arrived!by Maria Gargano | July 27, 2014 12:25 AM
The team arrived in Tucson safe and sound this evening. After getting settled in at the church, they headed to A Mountain for their orientation meeting. At the mountain they had an beautiful overlook of the city, and they started their trip off by praying over Tucson. They ended their day with some local cuisine at In-n-Out. They are resting up now and in the morning they will have the opportunity to participate in multicultural church service. Please keep them in prayer as they begin their week of service!
Mingling with the Localsby Maria Gargano | July 28, 2014 12:20 AM
The group did not waste any time soaking up local culture and getting to know the Tucsonians and the diversity that is so prominent among them. They participated in a joint worship service for two congregations: Restoration and Ministerio Vida Abundante. Two cultures and languages combined to worship our Lord!
The group visited San Xavier mission in the afternoon. Dating back to the eighteenth century, the mission displays traditional Catholic religious beliefs that are still upheld today. Some of the group enjoyed frybread, which is a Native American recipe popular here in Arizona!
They finished their day by marking at Praying Pelican first: taking a prayer ride on the new Tucson street cars! They opened this weekend, and the group packed into the cars with the locals and rode the line around town. They were able to have many engaging conversations with others in the street car and experience a community bonding experience while praying for the city! They ended their night with some local Eegee's dessert!
Pray for the group tomorrow as they get down to the hard work in construction, GAP Ministry and Church on the Street.
