They Have Arrived!!!

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 12:48 AM

Late last night the team arrived. This morning they enjoyed a warm breakfast and got ready for church.

Double Dose

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 12:54 AM

It was a special day at West-Side Church of God: Pastor Appreciation Day. The team enjoyed not one but two sermons from guest pastors. The worship was energetic and both messages really spoke to the heart. The most important lesson they learned was that God will use people in miraculous, unfathomable ways. Praying that the Lord does just that this week as the team starts their mission work tomorrow.

Mike's Talk

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 1:00 AM

Mike got to go up in front of the congregation and give a small talk. The church is very excited the team is here this week to reach out to the people in their neighborhood.

A Touching Sight

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 1:14 AM

Some of the team walked towards the mission arm in arm. They are obviously a very tight knit group.

The Artwork

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 1:21 AM

The murals and sculptures in the sanctuary and throughout the building were intricate and beautiful. It was evident that many hands had worked to create the breath-taking artwork on the walls.

God's Team

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 1:52 AM

We took a group photo of the entire team outside San Xavier Mission. The Creekside Community Church is conjoined with another great team called Peace Lutheran Church from North Dakota. The two teams have blended well together because it is evident that we are all on the same team for Christ.

Can't Miss Them

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 2:00 AM

Some of the team climbed a nearby hill sometimes referred to as the lookout. Their matching neon shirts made them seem like beacons of light in that place.

Because Why Not?

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 2:03 AM

Some of the team thought they would hug a cactus...

A Festival

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 8:41 AM

After the field trip, the team went into Tucson to do a prayer walk. A street festival was going on at that time. The team members were encouraged to get a feel for the different cultures in the area and talk to people as they walked around, learn about them and let God work through the conversations as they unfold.

Be Prepared

by Mel Trollman | March 24, 2014 8:47 AM

After eating dinner at time market, the team came back to West-Side where they are lodging and worked on preparations for their children's ministry this week.

Prayer Time

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 5:08 AM

The team planned to go door to door and invite people to bring their children to Kid's Club. But before they broke into groups, they Prayed over the fliers and for one another.

Knock Knock!

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 6:16 AM

They separated into several groups and scattered around the neighborhood. They talked to people who were home, and left a flier if they weren't. Hopefully many kids from the neighborhood will come to Kid's Club in addition to the children from the church.

Our Friend George

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 6:23 AM

Along their walk, one team met a construction worker named George. He was going through a tough time in his life. They asked to pray for him and he was very grateful.

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 6:27 AM

After door to door invites and pizza, several team members worked hard to prepare the crafts for the week.

Church on the Street

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 6:31 AM

Next the team went to a neat place called Church on the Street. It's a place where the homeless, the addicts, the struggling and unloved can go receive shelter, food, compassion and love. Moments after they arrived, they circled up and prayed for the ministry they were about to be a part of.

Busting Suds

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 6:34 AM

Without prompting, several people saw the tables needed to be cleaned and took the initiative to wash them down. Others made coffee, set up the drink table and washed dishes.

Sharing Testimonies

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 6:37 AM

The two boys gave their testimonies at the church's service. What they had to say was very moving.

Prayer and Sandwiches

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 6:44 AM

While half the team served spaghetti to the congregation after the service, the other half went to the nearby park. There they gave sandwiches to the homeless and prayed with anyone who wanted prayer.

A Stroll in the Park

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 6:49 AM

It was enjoyable walking around the park handing out food. The team got to talk to and pray with a wide variety of people. God was certainly at work.

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 6:56 AM

Back at West-Side, the team enjoyed some tasty cold treats from the ice cream truck before dinner. It was a hot hot day in the desert.

Welcome Pelicans

by Mel Trollman | March 25, 2014 7:01 AM

After dinner, the team traveled to another church nearby to get showers. The congregation there really appreciates the Praying Pelican Missions' teams working in Arizona. The students posed in front of a banner they created to welcome our teams.
