We Made It!!!

by Cory | February 15, 2014 9:33 PM

Greetings from Belize! The team got in today around noon and didn't waste anytime. After our lunch, we got to work with an orphanage in Ladyville. What a blessing it was to be able to work with the children within hours of stepping off the plane! After that, we headed up to Corozal, where the team will be serving this week. It is safe to say that we are all ready to start serving here!

Church Ministry

by Cory | February 17, 2014 9:40 AM

We started out Sunday with leading the four Sunday School classes. The team was able play and sing with the younger children, compare cultures and learn from the youth, and be able to dig into God's word with the adult class. After lunch, we got to head over to the park. We went over the the 24 of us, and within minutes, we had about 15-25 kids playing along with us. This was also a good time for us to promote our After School Program that runs through the majority of the week. We ended the night with a worship service with the church. We had a couple of people get up and lead the church in some songs in Spanish and in English. After worship, Pastor Joe brought the message with passion. It was exciting to see the team learn from him, truly starting to build a partnership!

The Start of Construction

by Cory | February 17, 2014 9:45 AM

This morning, Randy, John, Merritt, and Bob decided to get started on the service projects here at the church. The rest of the team is at the local Nazarene School, teaching and singing to the children. Be sure to look out for pictures from the school ministry!

Children's Ministry & Rec

by Cory | February 19, 2014 8:44 AM

As you saw, the team had started the construction on the building for the church to have more classrooms. We had to install about 10 windows, and got it all done! All we have to do is finish breaking stones to be the base of the walk way and level out some sand on the side of the church. We also had started the children's ministry at the church. The first day we had about 60 kids, and yesterday we had about 85 kids at the VBS. We had a huge success in making it an awesome day for the kids. Yesterday morning, we had some recreation time at the Mayan Ruin, Lamanei. This is the third largest ruin in Belize. This picture is about 18 of the 24 people that dared to climb it. More pictures to come shortly of the School Ministry, VBS, and Construction!!!

Back to School.

by Cory | February 19, 2014 8:44 PM

Today was just an awesome day! The morning started out with a devotional by Missy on our way to the school for our second day of school ministry. We were split up into 5 groups, all doing different activities in 5 different classes. It was so great to see the kids just smile and have more and more fun! We came back to start to finish the construction phases we started on Monday. All the groups were either digging, raking, or breaking rocks to be ready for pouring concrete tomorrow. At the end of the day, we finished with VBS. We had about the same number of children from yesterday. God was moving throughout our time with them in our hearts and theirs! Tomorrow is our last day to do ministry. Pray for strength in order to finish our time here in Corozal!

Dear Jayce (and friends), I am praying for you all each time I think of you. I am praying that VBS is moving and that kids hearts are changed through the holy spirit. Your work there is not unnoticed, and the Lord looks on you all with favor. I will be praying for strength and energy as you work there, and that the Lord would bless your time and make it fruitful. One verse that has been a comfort to me lately, and I hope brings you comfort as you may be stepping out of your comfort zone is Luke 14:27: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." Let his peace overwhelm you all as you're on your journey in Belize, and may you be aware of his presence always. In love, Emmi
