Update from First Baptist Church, Morganton NC
Long Sunday!!

by Brian Zeschke | July 26, 2009 8:12 PM

Sundays are always pretty long in Jamaica. Today was no exception! Church this morning was a "mere" 2 hours, but that was after an hour of Sunday School. We learned how to live our lives completely for God and not compromising. After church we had a delicious lunch of Jamaican Patties (a golden, tasty, flaky, pastry filled with spicy beef stuffed inside of a soft, sweet bun. . . anybody hungry yet?). Then we had a quick "competition" to see who knew their Jamaica trivia the best. Then, the highlight of our day, was a trip to an infirmary just outside of Ocho Rios. An infirmary is basically a government funded nursing home for those that have nowhere to go and nobody to take care of them. The group spent time talking with the people, praying with them, reading scripture, singing songs, and sometimes just touching them and listening. Everyone was deeply touched and will remember their experience for a long time, if not forever. Then we came back to the church and participated in a Sunday School Anniversary. Jeff shared a short message during the service and most of the group shared a song. Finally we sat down to enjoy an awesome dinner prepared for us. We were surprised with white table cloths, folded cloth napkins, actual glass glasses, and the "fine" silver. It was such a treat but we were very humbled to be served in that way. After a long day of serving and praising the Lord, everyone prepared a little for VBS tomorrow and is off to bed. Your prayers are being answered as God is definitely working in us and through us. Please continue!! Thank you!!

Aunt Janice I didn’t forget about you...I just wrote you a long loving message and hit the wrong button and it submitted my comment with the wrong password so it completely disappeared :-( I'm going to have to write you again tomorrow...have to go to bed right now but I love you dearly. And I pray that this mission is even more fulfilling then we ever imagined. I love you and miss you too....can't wait to hear about the mission once you two return. Stay safe and take care. God bless you beautiful!!!

Hi momma I love and miss you sooooo sooooo much!!!! I hope and pray that everything is going great. Regardless of the heat that you are enduring (I wish I could give you a fan, *smile*), it is all worth it. This sacrifice that ya'll are making is placing an impression in the lives of the people of Jamaica...your efforts are implanting a seed in their hearts that I believe and pray will sprout up like wildfire and grow into something awesome...that no man can take away. I know it's hard but whenever it seems to rough to handle just remember that you are indirectly touching lives. Just picture me and the boys watching you with such pride! I am soooo proud to have a mommy that is willing to do whatever God askes her to do...to go wherever God sends her. The best gift a person can offer is the sacrifice of their time...not too many people are willing to sacrifice their time for the benefit of others that they do not know. I love you soooo sooo very much...I really hope that you see this. I just remembered today about this website...so sorry it took me so long to write. Oh btw, we got the house!!! God is an awesome God!!! Can't wait till you get home to share in the joy with me!!! Love you dearly!!! --Baby Girl
