Update from Trinity Lutheran Church

We are excited to let you know that we got to Belize safely (sorry about the delay)! Our arrival in Belize was one of heat, humidity, and friendly faces at about 12pm. We loaded a bus and headed to Liberty House (an orphanage). We played soccer with the kids, read books, and met Miss Natalie. Our next stop was the Global Village Hotel, the Praying Pelican staff headquarters in Belize, for a late lunch/early dinner. After getting some fuel for our stomachs, we set off for our hotel, St. Christopher’s in Orange Walk; it took about an hour, Belizean time to get there. We received our room assignments and got settled in. Our evening meeting consisted of a welcome from our trip leader, hearing of some rules and guidelines, a time of sharing some fun memories from the day, and a discussion about tomorrow’s schedule. Sunday morning we went to Orange Walk Nazarene Church. Some sat in the Sunday school and were soon in charge of the class. The superintendent started the class, but said he wanted the group to lead it, so they read stories from their donation supplies and sang songs. We met Pastor Rick and his wife; she did a message directly from a passage and shared about how it applies to life. There was singing and Cody did his testimony. Lunch was beef, rice, and a variety of fresh fruit-papaya, bananas, and watermelon. After lunch, we walked through the village inviting people to Vacation Bible School. Some people we saw were from the church, so we acknowledged that we saw them that morning, which they seemed to appreciate. Those that were not at church that morning were still very receptive to our invitation and visits. When we returned to our hotel, showers and naps were greatly appreciated. We met for our missions training at 5pm and had dinner at 5:45pm; the spaghetti was wonderful as was the garlic bread and pineapple juice. Our bus ride to the church was pretty short. The service was inspirational service with an open microphone. Kevin and Cathy shared testimony/verses and we all sang songs. For our evening meeting, we had some praise and worship, went over highlights from the day and heard about tomorrow’s schedule; sounds like some good, hard work is coming our way! Thanks for your prayers!

Hey Lil Sis & Chris .... Where has this week gone? Soon you will be home with a sense of fulfillment in your hearts and (oh what is the word I am looking for?) that you have done a good job doing God's will and spreading the word of our savior. I can't wait to hear about all your adventures. Glad to read Dawn's blurb about Dad and knowing that he is well taken care of and watched after until he is ready to return to his own home. Tomorrow Papa and I are going 'up the hill' to Portola. Our mission is to get a post office box up there (we need that to establish residency). Will explain that one to ya when you get home. I am sure we will stop by the small museum there and spend a couple of hours 'bending the curator's ear' with memories (she is in charge of writing the town's history....book #3). I don't mind the trip as long as I get to have breakfast at my favorite cafe. Well, have a safe trip home. God be with and protect you both.

Hi Spencer, I hope you are having a fun time in Belize and learning and teaching a lot about God's grace. We both cannot wait to see you soon. Love, Stuart & Samantha

Dear Ambassadors of Christ! We are so proud of all of you and have really enjoyed the website and notes from the prayer warriors here in the states. Thank you all for representing Trinithy for us and being out delegates for Christ. Not everyone is called to the mission field and God has blessed you with the call. Thanks for responding with "Here am I send me!" I remember when I came back from 2 years in the Peace Corps in West Africa, I came off the plane and almost kissed the ground because I was so happy to be back in the U.S. Also, share your excitement with others when you get back, but don't be surprised when people who haven't traveled abroad don't quite understand what you have experienced. Hopefully your enthusiasm will spark a desire to go on the next trip that Trinity or another mission agency has. Those of us who have traveled abroad have a better understanding of the circumstances you have encountered, and will enjoy the stories you have to tell and the memories it will bring back for us. I look forward to your return and the growth you;ve made on this new chapter in your life. Thanks again for your great commitment to our Savior. You may never realize the impact you have made until you get to heaven and you see the results. Listen to Ray Boltz's song "Thank You." Your are in my thoughts and prayers, Alan Grossmann

Hey Spencer ~ How are things going on your mission trip. I have been running with the cross country team. How has your weather been there? It has not been too bad here. Are you sleeping in a hotel or camping like your Mom, Sam and Stuart are in Alpena? I will see you on Sunday at Grandma and Grandpa's house for a cookout. My parents are out at the lake house tonight as tomorrow they are tearing down the old house, so we can start to build the new cottage. Your favorite cousin Kyle :)

Hey Gloria/Chris Very happy to see that you guys made it well and are in the throes of doing what you love to do. Keep your minds free and absorb as much of the culture there that you can. Bobby was in to see Chet on Sunday, but I was out of town. They watched carving videos together. I hope to get out there to see him at the new place soon. I had a small surgery yesterday and am recovering nicely. No need to worry...Bobby has been taking good care of me. Hang in there and don't worry too much about home. It seems that everyone is in good hands back here. Keep us posted and we will do the same! Take care!

Hi, Mom! (Gloria Norris) Writing to update you on Gramps. He is in the Lawton rehab center - was transferred Monday. They're watching his hemoglobin level - he had one more transfusion over the weekend - normal "issue" for an ortho injury. If he needs another one, he'll be taken to Paw Paw hospital as an outpatient, then return to center. He was put in a tiny, dark room with no window & was CRABBY for the first time - I traded social worker cookies for a new room for grampa (she said I didn't really have to bring cookies, but I will anyway). New room has window overlooking courtyard. His spirits are now good - he realizes what/why things need to be done. He's had visitors from church, Anne, Mary, me and the kids. I think Uncle Ron & Detra are coming Friday (??). Lot of details I'll tell you next week. I think he'll be there at least a month or two, but it depends on him. I brought him his TV from home. Cell phones do not work there - no signal. Write back if there's anything I missed that you're wondering about. Love, Dawn

Hi Spencer ~ Wow, what an awesome mission trip you are having. I pray that when you leave Belize you will have brought faith to many people that didn't believe before. I hope you're able to keep in contact with some of the children and adults that you have met along the way. I know God is looking down on you with a smile on his face for all you and your group are doing for the people in Belize. May God Bless all of you. I just can't say it enough how PROUD I am of you. I always knew you would be a special nephew from the time you were in preschool and you told Miss Deanna that your Aunt Chrissy looked like an angel. I think maybe you needed glasses back then (just kidding). Have a Blessed Day! Love, Aunt Chris

Spencer! We are so proud of what you are doing. It's exciting to see you live your faith. We know that you are blessing all of those around you. What's even more wonderful is that the blessings you receive will be even greater than those you give. We'll keep you and your team in our prayers for success and safety. Indeed, "You (and your team) are the light of the world. Let your light so shine among others that they will see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven!" Hey, you guys! I hope you all realize how blessed you are to be chosen by God to spread His Word in Belize. This is just the beginning of what He has in store for each and every one of you. You are all called to be Missionaries, not only in Belize, but to the ends of the earth, for the rest of your lifetimes. May Jesus walk beside you every minute. May He open the ears and hearts of the lost and may the Holy Spirit rest in each new convert to Christianity. The office is pretty quiet this week. Jodi Whittaker's surgery is today, so please keep her in your prayers. Take care, all, and may God richly bless you. Karen Morris PS Hey, Coty, did you get a window seat on the plane?

Hi Spencer ~ Glad that you made it to Belize safe. I hope you are having a rewarding time. What a Blessing to be able to go on a mission trip. You will never forget this time. Also, I'm praying that your new house closes soon, so maybe you will miss out on moving everything into your new home (I bet that would be upsetting to you) :) Your cat has finally got used to us and comes out to visit with me, however has scared the beans out of me quite a few times, as she attacks my feet. I wish you and everyone else a safe and rewarding trip in Belize. I'm so proud of you Spencer. Love, Aunt Chris
