We have arrived!

by PPM Staff | July 6, 2013 9:13 PM

We have arrived safely. Had a great first day...we headed over to our Church that we will be working with for the week, Calvary Church of the Nazarene in San Juan, and started cleaning up the bushes and trees to prep for our work project this week. Had some fun playing volleyball and getting to know the local church. We are excited for Church tomorrow. Thank you for praying for us while we are here! Keep coming back for regular updates and pictures.

Ministry has started!

by PPM Staff | July 8, 2013 8:36 AM

Yesterday was a wonderful Sunday. We started the day with Sunday school and church, had a delicious lunch, went walking in the community, and were able to go to Monte Hatillo (the community where we will be doing VBS) to play with the kids. God has already been teaching us a lot!

Evening meeting

by PPM Staff | July 8, 2013 8:48 AM

Every evening our team gathers on the veranda of the church to debrief about our day. Last night we talked about what we have noticed about Puerto Rican culture that we weren't expecting and also shared the ways that we have already seen God moving in our lives while on the trip. Each of us had something to share - we can't wait to share our stories with you!

Painting

by PPM Staff | July 9, 2013 1:17 PM

Yesterday we started painting the parsonage. Some of us painted the sides, a few of us painting while on the roof, and others of us painted the garage. It was a lot of work, but so worth it!

by PPM Staff | July 9, 2013 1:18 PM

A few ladies from the team had the opportunity to visit a nearby nursing home and minister to the residents there. Nail painting was a hit!

We had a blast at VBS! During craft time we painted the kids' hands and made banners with their names on them. Later, the kids decided to put their handprints on our shirts!

Rehab center

by PPM Staff | July 10, 2013 8:54 AM

A few of us were able to go to the rehabilitation center that is near the church. Many of the residents are recovering from surgery and do not have visitors. We were blessed to be able to talk to this gentleman!

I'm in Philly and just drove by the airport and thought of you. I miss you sweetie and I'm so proud of your service to the Lord. Mom's going to pick you up on Saturday night at Comm EC so call her when you're in Philly. You're going to Knoebels on Sunday. Everyone misses you (but not as much as me) :-) --Dad

Sammy, as you know, I have made a number of trips to the rainforest in Costa Rica to do what you are doing there in Puerta Rico. Where I had been, where you are now, and wherever and whenever we become aware of our infinite awakening, we find ourselves at the very center of the Great Creator's heart and share the vision, for His work is His love made visible. And, oh, by the way, don't forget to have a blast with your new friends, sans the rum. Loves and hugs, Uncle Rudy and Auntie Jill

TO SAMMY BENTZ: Hi Sammy. Saint Anthony is Baba's Favorite so she is impressed. Abby misses you a LOT. She says hanging out in your room, using your makeup and hair products and trying on your clothes while your gone makes her feel better. She said you wouldn't mind. She also said that those stains were already there. I love you Sammy. I pray that God will use you as a conduit of His grace. That by serving Him in this way you'll see how small our world really is and how we are all His children. -Dad
