St. Mark Lutheran Church

We made it to beautiful Prince Edward Island! After an enjoyable day in Nova Scotia, a ferry ride, meeting our host pastors and visiting the local waterfront, we gobbled up some freshly baked apple crisp and settled in for the night. We are excited to see what God will do!

This morning we are getting to know some of the congregants at our host church and getting ready to enjoy a table talk service where we have breakfast together and learn about Jesus!

We taught the church the theme song for our VBS at both services this morning! There was lots of participation and dancing involved!

Mitchel did an amazing job teaching the devotional at the second service this morning. We learned all about how we are all a part of one body, but each have different gifts to be used for the Kingdom!

At the end of the service, Pastor Cody prayed over our whole team and we were able to answer a few questions about the things that we are excited about this week!

After service our team served up some ice cream sundaes to the congregation! It was such an amazing opportunity to meet and say hi to so many people!

After a bit of flex time we are super excited to get prepared for VBS, which begins tomorrow!

We ended our night playing trivia and learned a lot of new things! Our prize was a bag full of Canadian candy that we've never had before!

This morning after breakfast we are studying Philippians 2 and talking about how every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. We discussed also how Paul encourages others and how we can be an encouragement to others.

This morning we are off to serve Gifts From The Heart with a food drive which will assist with filling our community cupboards. It was great to meet Betty, who started this organization and provides a wonderful service to some of our residents.

We are helping to spread the word, load and unload donations and assist people with anything that they may need. All donations will go to community fridges that are around the Charlottetown and Stratford area. The community fridges help those who are experiencing food insecurities.

This afternoon we are spending time with the local kids in the community and from our host church in VBS! We are making crafts, playing games outside and learning all about Jesus!

We ended the VBS with a group song and the kids had a blast. Okay we did too!

After an amazing full day of ministry we are making a joyful noise and hosting our own karaoke night! We also enjoyed some ice cream sandwiches to help our vocal cords (of course).

We headed to Belfast, PEI for a visit with the senior community at Gillis Lodge. We had a special treat when one of the residents played his harmonica! Lots of toe tapping going on!

We had such a great time visiting with seniors this morning. So many laughs and stories shared!

We are kicking off day two of VBS with the kids. We are learning about Psalm 23:2-3 and a new song about how God provides for us.

We are having a great time singing, dancing and worshiping Jesus. We also had some fun playing games, doing crafts and having a great time laughing together.

After dinner we went to a local ice cream shop called Whats The Scoop and enjoyed some yummy ice cream!

We went to beautiful Brackley Beach on the northern shore. It was time for Mitch to get buried in the sand!

We swim, we ran, and we enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation. While at the beach a tiny rainbow appeared in the sky and reminded us of all He’s promised us! On the way out, we enjoyed watching the sun set behind the clouds.

We are out today at Kays to lend a hand with donations for Gifts From The Heart. Some of us were helping to load up customers purchases. People have been very generous in supporting the food drive. Praise God for all the blessings.

We are making sure that people know all about the food drive and helping Ms Betty spread the word!

It’s our last day of VBS. We’ve had a blast with all the kids and had so much fun singing, dancing and learning about Jesus. It was also fun performing the skits for our new friends!

Our host pastors Cody and John were so kind and threw us a pizza party to say thank you. We tried garlic fingers and donair sauce for the first time!

After our pizza party we hit the showers and had a final debrief about all the ways we saw God working this week. We took advantage of the break in the rain and went to Victoria Park for ice cream and got to watch a beautiful sunset!

Today is our rec day and we are taking the opportunity to enjoy the scenery in downtown Charlottetown. We had to stop and take a team photo at the waterfront!

We also had to try a Prince Edward Island delicacy, beaver tails! So good!

After lunch we headed to the Cow's Creamery and did a little bit more shopping! Mitch couldn’t wait to wear his new shirt and felt like modeling!

We ended our time on Prince Edward Island on the beautiful north shore in Cavendish and visited the Anne of Green Gables Heritage Home.

We are so grateful for all of the time spent this week with the kids in the community, our host pastors, all of our new friends and we hope we can return someday!
