Middletown Christian

Today is our first ministry day, and we split our group of ~30 in to three teams to split up and serve at various ministry locations. One of our ministries is called Beauty for Ashes, it is a rehabilitation and recovery program for women. Beauty for Ashes is an extension program of the Virginia Adult & Teen Challenge, a national program focused on recovery and healing through the love of Christ. We helped them with landscaping and yard work, so the staff at Beauty for Ashes can continue to focus on pouring into the lives of the women in the program.

Our team got to hear a testimony on what the teenage home rehabilitation center is all about! We started work projects shortly after that including laying mulch, taking down a fence, and tilling a garden.

We ended the night together with a team devo and debrief. A few students and leaders led a few worship songs! A great way to end a great day!

Some inside duties at the monastery! Weeding and cleaning up!

This morning we went to the Franciscan Monastery in DC to help them with some gardening. This monastery has owned the 15 acres it sits on since the mid 1800s, and uses their garden to support those that serve the monastery. We helped weed the gardens and hauled fresh soil for their upcoming growing season.

We had a fun time serving at the Monastery today!

Our teams split up to serve at Martha’s Table in the afternoon. A team came to this site and the other two teams served outside schools! Martha’s Table is a ministry for those who don’t have access to/can’t afford good produce and other food items. Super cool to serve these communities!

The team headed to serve with seabury for parts of today! We helped clean some of the elders apartments!
