Hope Lutheran Church

We are thrilled to share the news of our safe arrival here in Quincy, Massachusetts!

After a long but spirit-filled journey, all 26 members of our Hope Lutheran mission team successfully completed our travel from Pennsylvania. The train ride provided a wonderful opportunity for our group to pray, reflect, and prepare our hearts for the week ahead. We are so grateful for the smooth transit and the protection we felt throughout our travel.

We have officially been welcomed with open arms by our gracious hosts at Faith Lutheran Church. Their hospitality has already made us feel right at home, and we are humbled by the warm reception we received upon our arrival.

Our team is settled in, energized, and deeply excited to begin our service projects. Whether we are helping around the church grounds, engaging with local outreach programs, or simply offering a helping hand where needed, our mission is to be the hands and feet of Christ in this community.

We have officially settled into our accommodations and are feeling refreshed after a restful night. This morning, our hearts were full as we joined the congregation at Faith Lutheran for their 9:00 AM service. It was a beautiful experience to worship alongside our new brothers and sisters in Christ, feeling the unity of the global church even while away from home. The fellowship following the service was a wonderful chance to begin building meaningful relationships and learning more about the life and ministry of this congregation.

Our team is energized and deeply excited to begin our service projects tomorrow. Whether we are helping around the church grounds, engaging with local outreach programs, or simply offering a helping hand where needed, our mission is to be the hands and feet of Christ in this community.

We enjoyed gathering in the beautiful church garden this evening for our devotion and to talk about our goals and expectations for the days ahead! We discussed Philippians 2 and the importance of shining Jesus’ light by having a positive heart posture and being mindful of our grumbling and complaining.

Today, our team split up into two groups to maximize our impact across the community. In the morning, the first team served at the church, rolling up their sleeves to tackle tasks such as painting, gardening, and deep cleaning. Meanwhile, the second team served at Interfaith Social Services in Quincy, diligently packaging food for those in need.

In the afternoon, the teams switched gears! The first group headed over to Community Servings to package and prepare food for those who need it most, while the second group continued the ongoing service projects at the church to help complete the remaining tasks on the grounds.

Our team continues to feel energized and deeply blessed by the opportunity to serve side by side. Whether we are beautifying church spaces or packing meals for local families, our mission remains focused on being the hands and feet of Christ in this community.

Last night we headed into Boston to have dinner at the Quincy Market food court. We enjoyed sitting on the steps to eat where we debriefed our day and talked about God moments! The team also enjoyed getting to walk the Freedom Trail and learn more about Boston’s history.

Today marked our final day of service, and our team spent it serving at the local YMCA. We had the incredible opportunity to learn all about the rich history of the YMCA and the profound impact it continues to have on this community.

Throughout the day, our team rolled up their sleeves and jumped into a wide variety of tasks. We helped clean, organize, provide logistical front desk assistance, greet community members with a smile, and offer extra hands as support for the kids' day camp in the gym.

We ended our final day of service with a special project: preparing and decorating bags filled with snacks and water to hand out to those in need in the community. Reflecting on this final day, our hearts are full of gratitude for the journey we've shared together and the ways we've been welcomed by Quincy.

After a wonderful week of pouring our hearts into service, our team of enjoyed a well-deserved recreation day to explore the historic and vibrant city of Boston.

It was a fantastic opportunity to unwind, build deeper bonds, and take in the sights together after a week of hard work. Whether walking the Freedom Trail, taking in the city views, or sharing meals and laughter, we are so grateful for this time of fellowship and celebration of all we've experienced this week.

Our leaving day. Bright and early at 5:00 AM, all of our Hope Lutheran mission team boarded our Amtrak train, beginning our journey back home to Pennsylvania.

As we travel, our hearts are filled with deep gratitude. Looking back over the past week—from our hands-on service projects at the church, SSI, Food Commons, and the YMCA, to our recreation day exploring Boston and the wonderful hospitality we received from our hosts—we are in awe of how God has moved through our team and this community.

Thank you all so much for your unwavering prayers and support from start to finish. They truly have been the foundation of our work and travel every step of the way, and we cannot wait to return home to share our stories, testimonies, and photos with you!
