Redeemer Lutheran Church

The group arrived last night and this morning we got up, ate breakfast and went to church! We enjoyed getting to worship with the congregation this morning! After that, we enjoyed lunch with the congregation! What a great start to our week!

After lunch, we headed downtown to see downtown Paducah! We walked the wall to wall, a collection of murals that tell the history of Paducah, and visited some of the local shops! Afterwards, we went out for froyo and had a movie night! What a wonderful day!

Our first ministry today was at Starfish orphan thrift store! People in the community in need come in and can get clothing and furniture free of charge! They serve the community in Paducah, but also in countries such as El Salvador and Guatemala! We sorted clothes, shoes, and toys and got to help customers in the storefront!

After starfish, we went to get ingredients for tonight’s dinner at River city mission! We got to cook for the people who live there, as they help serve people who are getting back on their feet! It was so fun to get to work together and make a meal for them!

Today we got to serve with Catalyst community center. Catalyst serves almost 1000 meals every Wednesday night along with meeting so many of Mayfields needs. We did a lot of the food prep and mopped the whole building! Even though we didn’t get much interaction with the community, we planted the seeds for what will come to fruition tomorrow. Thank you Lord for all the ways this food will bless people!

After catalyst we came back to Melber Baptist church and got the opportunity to paint some of the doors to the church! They needed some touch ups, and it was a fun way to brush up on our painting skills!
