Christ Church Summit

The team landed safely on the islands tonight! We picked up some pizza for a late night dinner and got settled at our lodging site in Poʻipū, Kaua‘i Christian Fellowship.

We had PPM orientation after some local breakfast - eggs, pancakes, sausage, and spam!

We spent the afternoon at the beach! We played frisbee, volleyball, snorkels, and swam in the waves. We also got to see some turtles and attempted to fish. Lots of fun time in the sun!

Of course we had to have a grill out for dinner for the 4th!

After dinner, we went to Lihue to catch a firework show!

We arrived early to church and laid back in the sun! It’s a beautiful Sunday and we’re ready for the week ahead.

For church this morning, we joined the Episcopal Church on West Kaua‘i and helped pack the pews with our team. We will be partnering alongside this congregation this week as we work on a construction project for one of the families and hang with the Kanaka kiddos.

We had a special moment of receiving lei as we are welcomed to the island and community.

After church and starting our work projects for the week, we headed up to Waimea Canyon trail for a hike! Beautiful views seeing Gods amazing creation in Kauai!

At Kauai Baptist today we cleared out weeds to prepare for a painting job to start tomorrow!

The Quester himself! Had to get a photo!

One of our main projects this week is helping making Gia’s house accessible. A few months ago Gia had an accident that left her paralyzed and she has been on the mainland ever since. We are able to bless her and her family with our time to bring her home and be comfortable. It starts small but we did a lot of cleaning up and shoveling to prepare for the project!

Lots of us ended up being covered in this rich red dirt from the landscaping and clean up work around the house.

The crew at Kauaʻi Baptist is working hard on sanding and taping so we can start painting today.

Some of the boys found coconuts and decided to try their hand at cracking them on the rocks. They were excited when they found the coconut water and meat!

Had a different group of students at KCF who all did amazing with the kids and their high energy! The big question today was, “Where in the world do I come from?” and learning what it means to be created in Christ!

After serving at VBS we had lunch and got to catch the last bit of the Columbia v. Switzerland game during PKs. Some of us are left in distraught… but now we’re headed to some shops in Kōloa town!

Over at Gias house we got a good amount done today like working on stuff for the driveway, along with doing things underneath the house! We are also seeing a lot of progress with the landscaping and fencing efforts! Great job team!

Pastor Chuck from Christ Church Summit encouraged us as we are reaching our half way mark through the week. He talked about how it’s a special opportunity to come to Kaua‘i and give our time to the communities. He encouraged us to start our day with gratitude! Ready to finish this week with grateful hearts and hard work!

Rousseaux from KCF’s VBS joined us for taco tuesday! Curiosity was unlocked and the boys got to chance to ask questions about Christianity, having a childlike faith, heaven, and God!

We played in the gym since it was pouring outside. Lucas was playing goalie as our 3-4 year old friends were shooting goals!

The kids at VBS are filled with so much energy and loved getting to chase the boys around. Props to our boys for letting the littles climb and tackle them over and over again!

Gia’s church family invited us to the beach for a cook-out to thank us for all of our hard work this week.

Wrapped up our time serving at KCF this week! So sweet to come alongside the church to teach the kids about Jesus!
