Christian Heritage Academy

It's our fourth year coming here to Puerto Rico with our new class of 8th graders and we are excited to see what God has in store for us. We are now getting our luggage and heading to our lodging host for a nice dinner and then our orientation.

We are having our orientation meeting to discuss the rules to follow and to have harmony on our trip.

Today is our first day of the week and we have the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the church.

As the service continues, the church is taking the opportunity to pray for us.

After church and a delicious lunch, we are now walking the apartment complex at San Juan Park announcing that on Tuesday and Wednesday we will be hosting an afternoon VBS for the kids after their school.

We are taking the time to get to know the kids of San Juan Park. They remember the class of last year and it makes it easier for us to connect with them. We are so excited to be here and to interact with the kids.

We are having our devotional time and sharing our experiences of the day.

We are now warming up in the gym class at Puerto Rico Christian School before playing a friendly match with the students.

As we break into our groups, a few of us are now working at the school grounds. Helping to rake leaves and clean the areas. This is a big job that it's taking a few of us to do. What's even more amazing is that this job is done by just one person, so today we get to lift him up and give him less of a workload so he can focus on other tasks.

While a part of our group is doing yard work and the others at gym class, we have eight of our students being teacher assistants with Pre-K and kindergarten. In one of the classes, they are learning how to trace their hands on a piece of paper. In another one, they're learning the letter E and drawing eagles. We are having so much fun being able to assist the kids.

While we are in gym class, yard work, teacher assistants, another one of our students is plugging into music class and helping the kids learn the scale of c.

After lunch at the school, we headed down to Metro Vineyard to be with Pastor Carlos and Carmen. Our task for this afternoon is to clean up the church and help pack their things in boxes, because the church is soon looking to move to a new location.

We are ready to Kayak at the Bio Bay in Fajardo and see the glowing waters. We are so excited for this trip.

We are now helping in the Pre-K B classroom, where the homework assignment is to trace the letter W.

We are continuing to help the school with the yardwork. It's a lot of work but we are so happy to be able to help this school.

We are here at San Juan Park to give our kids the opportunity to minister to the children of San Juan Park, an apartment complex where we will have games, arts and crafts and sports. Before we get started with the crafts, we decided to play a volleyball game on the laundry room and an older lady that was doing laundry decided to join us on the fun.

We are doing crafts with the kids and we have a church member named Peter who is teaching us how to make them.

As the day is ending we are taking the time to read the Bible on our Pelican Guides. This year our Pelican Guides are going through the book of Ephesians.

It's her final day of ministry at Puerto Rico Christian School and we are plugged in with our pre-ks and K. Today they're taking a test and our students are assisting the teachers so that the kids can take the test

We are playing doing recess with our students from Pre-K and we are in the dollhouse playing, hide and seek.

It's been two busy days of yard work and now we are on our third. We are focusing on the courtyard and then the hallway that used to be a garden connecting to the basketball court. As we rake the leaves and continue working, we are realizing how much our groundskeeper works at the school. Right now he's the only one working at the school as they are understaffed. So we are happy to help them.

It's our final day of afternoon VBS at San Juan Park and our host pastor Carmen Gutierrez is teaching the kids in the Bible lesson that Jesus welcomed. The kids saying that theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

It's our last day in San Juan Park, and after a great day of Bible class, arts and crafts and sports, it's time to say goodbye. We are all going back to our homes with beautiful memories that we will treasure forever.

Today is our last day of ministry and we're only doing a half a day. Pastor Carlos and Carmen arranged for us to help with a community project at a former school named Escuela Conde Marin. What was once a school for kids. It is now turned into a community center to offer hot meals, exercise and different programs for the community. The school is still in a rough shape and needs a lot of hands to help. We are so happy to be helping right now here at the school so that he can be of service for the community.

Well some of us at the school are raking leaves and clearing out roofs with dirt, some of us are also scraping the fences so that they can be painted.

After a great day of ministry and a delicious taco lunch, we are now here at the public beach ine town of Carolina. We are taking this afternoon to relax and enjoy God's beautiful creation and hopefully find a coconut we can open.

Our lodging host, Iglesia DF La Nueva Cosecha has treated us so well and fed us really good. Our Cook Marisol has been amazing and before we head out to Old San Juan and the airport we are taking a picture with her.

After saying goodbye to the church that hosted us, we are now here in Old San Juan for some time to walk around the old town and do some shopping.

Our trip is now at its end. We are here at the airport saying goodbye to our our Pelican staff David and Shamila. We are so thankful for their leadership and we are excited to go back home and apply what we learned here in Puerto Rico. Hasta luego!
