Today’s task is replacing the windows at Kauai Baptist Church because the old ones were broken and rusty.

Before we could put the second window in, some old nails and loose wood had to go.

We get to serve in North Shore this week with Makanalani Camps, a 130 acre farm for kids to come experience Gods love through his creation! We met Ben who shared the heart behind this land and how we get to partner alongside them this week. Before we started we spent some time praying in groups for the foster care building we were going to work on.

The wooden entry arch needed a refresh! We put a fresh coat of stain so it could pop out.

As the girls worked on staining the entrance, Will and Jordan went around camp to stain these signs! There were about 10 total and these boys killed it!

Makanalani Camps is working on getting a building out together for foster care kids and families. Our team worked on painting the roof and picnic tables.

Right after dinner it started down pouring! We sprinted to run and dance in the rain which is a rare sight in Bakersfield, CA!

Started our Tuesday with worship and a devotional on James 2! So great to start our mornings with Christ before we get on to serving.

This is St. John Lutherans Students and Young Adults Ministry in Kaua‘i!

Hi Joy, Will, and Jordan — we have a team back in the North Shore! We helped pressure wash containers, clean and paint a bathroom, organize an ancient junk corner in the barn, and started working on some decking at the Foster Care building!

Took a quick break and played some basketball with Uncle Kimo! And met a new friend named Kaiewi!

Jordan, Lincoln, and Joy worked together to saw this palettes!

Kumaola choir gave out lei to our groups before we began vacation Bible school for the week!

Before building the garden we pulled out weeds to get it prepared!

Tim, Pierre, and Riley got up on the top of the building to touch up paint! It was on and off raining so we got to it quick!

Would you wake up at 5:30 for an early morning run?! These guys would!

While eating dinner the rain began to pour so the group headed out to run around in it! Enjoyed the Lords beautiful creation!

We trimmed the new windows at Kauai Baptist church to create a beautiful finish. Michael cut this trim the straightest yet using a handsaw.

After one for the ministry van’s got a flat, Chelsie and Braedon learned how to take off a tire and put on a spare. The van then took everyone to the evening ministry site and dinner!

Even after a long day of work projects we gathered for some late night worship before bed!

After spotting some bugs during debrief, some piggyback rides had to be given to the concrete. There we talked about our days, encouraged each other, and shared how we saw God in the ministry we did.

After lots of hard work, we refreshed with some water, food, and lots of laughter.

Today, we finished out some trenches for a new build at Kauai Christian Fellowship. The machine was unable to run through this part because of how rocky it is, so we manually removed them.

Day 2 was filled with so many God moments! We shared these with everyone and had a sweet time praying over our friends!

This week we’ve been doing a VBS with the kanaka kids and helped with the tomato garden over in Kekaha! Started our Wednesday with prayer and casting vision for our project today.

Uh oh! On the way to the greenhouse for weed clean up, one of the vans got stuck… and then broke trying to get pulled out. Gotta be flexible and trust that God knows what’s next when we least expect it. At least we were in awe next to a watermelon field.

She took out those weeds with the weed-eater to clear out some space to make room for the church’s greenhouse.

In the afternoon, we painted more of Kauai Baptist Church.

Today was our last day at Kauai Baptist Church! We’re so thankful for the ability to love and support this church.

After finishing our painting at Kauai Baptist we prayed over the building! Praying that there would be transformation and relationships grown with the Lord here!

After worksites today we joined together for some Karaoke at Hanapepe Public Library!

For Desiree’s birthday, we all encouraged her by sharing how much she’s blessed us or how we see God in her.

Had a whole team work afternoon at our church lodging site

Joined the Kaua‘i Baptist community for their evening at the park! We had a potluck, volleyball, and got to hear some testimonies from church members!

After an afternoon at the beach, we caravanned down to Hanapēpē for a local art walk.

Some cool dudes named Noah and Brendan from Makanalani Camps’ Residency met us during our lunch break! We learned about their young adult discipleship and residency program over in Kaua‘i! We also got to pray for their ministries!

Courteney, Olivia, Lina helped with planting these red ti leaf plants at the camp entrance! They had to dig through tough and thick roots!

Before heading out of Makanalani, Uncle Ben showed us the farms goats! It was so fun and we are already missing our friend Patricia!

Chelsea and Ryan sang Choosing Texas at karaoke

Joined st. john’s episcopal and the choir kids for an evening at Salt Pond for beach and potluck! Had such a fun time in the ocean, playing volleyball, and making s’mores!
