Hearts for the Lord

Praise God our travel day was uneventful. We arrived safely to Mount Olive Baptist Church. We met Pastor Braylon, our host and his fellow church leaders. We visited the house we will be working on and are feeling great about the work that's ahead of us.

It has been 6 years since Lake Charles was hit by a major hurricane, but some people have not been recovered. We are learning a lot about the difficulties some people go through when disasters of such magnitude hit the region. The House we are hear to help remodel is a part of this story.

The home owner was hit with some health issues and has not been able to return home since. Sadly, she was also a victim of people who take advantage of others in dire times. With the help of previous mission teams, some unfinished work have been done on the house, but not enough for her to move back in.

We are going to rip off the existing floor, repair some joists and subfloor damage, finish and texture the walls and ceilings, case and frame windows, paint, install new flooring, and hopefully install some appliances as well.

The church we are staying at has some plumbing and electric needs that we can help with as well.

There is another church that serves as housing for mission teams in times of disasters that has a shower house that needs Sheetrock. We are hoping to get that done for them if we have time.

Please pray that we can be an encouragement to those churches and plant seeds for further development as we work on those projects.
