Crossroads Church

We were so blessed with the opportunity to attend Lahaina Baptist Church this morning! For those of you who don’t know, Lahaina Baptist Church was a church that was located in the middle of the devastating fires in 2023, and yet God saved this building from burning.

After walking through where the fires had happened, Pastor Erick shared his testimony and how the fires had impacted him, his family, and his neighbors.

We had the opportunity to bless Pastor Erik by serving alongside him and helping clean up the community. Throughout the day, we tackled a variety of projects:moving large piles of rocks; clearing overgrown shrubs and weeds; picking up trash; and even removing a few trees! It was such a meaningful way to serve, knowing that our work would make a lasting difference for the people there.

We had so much fun serving Aunty Netti today. Since the 2023 fires, she has poured so much into the Maui community, and it was a blessing to come alongside her. All together, we tore down part of a fence and replaced it with a gate, sorted through furniture and food she gives to local families, added privacy screens to fences, and built a giant tent she’ll use to keep serving the community. Grateful to play even a small part in something bigger than us.

Today we partnered with Malama Kula! We had a great opportunity to help out a local woman by removing a huge portion invasive plants and shrubs. We then added a layer of wood chips over the top of the soil to allow the native grass to be the only thing to grow through.

We then drove to a forrest lot that had been completely burnt down during a fire, and then we removed all the invasive species of plants that don’t allow for native grass to grow. A few years ago this lot used to be a heavily pack forest of native trees.

Half of our team partnered with Maui Rescue Mission and Hale Kau Kau to deliver meals throughout the community. The rest of us stayed back with Kyle, where he showed us firsthand how deeply the fires impacted local families.

We all met up at Hale Kau Kau and helped clean out their delivery vans that they use to help distribute food to a ton of the local community.

We helped paint a mural for the Lahaina Resource Center!

We helped reenforce a wall at the Lahaina Resource Center and extended the roof all the way down so that they could have a shaded area!
