Planning and Prepping

by Libby Braaten | June 9, 2025 9:06 PM

This morning a small group went to the homes we are going to be serving at this week to see what work needs to be done. We talked through details and enjoyed meeting some of the people as well.

Serving with Smiles

by Jennie Pakan | June 9, 2025 9:15 PM

This morning we went to Washburn Community Outreach to help them organize and prepare for some upcoming distribution efforts. They serve more than 400 families every week and are  connected to a local church, Salem UMC.

Pass it On!

by Jennie Pakan | June 9, 2025 9:17 PM

Hey friends, if you are reading this, we hope you know the joy of serving. We think it's pretty sweet and we want to get the word out, so more people can experience this too!

New Friends

by Jennie Pakan | June 9, 2025 9:30 PM

Jamie and Tasia were the volunteer coordinators that helped us to learn about the ministry they do and how we could help today. During our lunch break, Jamie shared about the needs in the community (even before Helene) and God's work in her life.

History and Vision

by Jennie Pakan | June 9, 2025 9:38 PM

Yvonne and Sheila have been seeing God's provision through the years, challenges, joys, and major stages of development at the Mary B. Mullen Bible Camp. We heard some amazing stories and we are glad to get to spend more time with these incredible leaders this week.

Painting at Gretrude's House

by Jennie Pakan | June 10, 2025 9:39 PM

This morning we painted at Gertrude's house. We were the detail crew helping to finish the exterior paint on her home.

Brandy, our project coordinator, stopped by to bring us another ladder. Of course, we had to stop for a photo too.

Diving into work… literally

by Libby Braaten | June 10, 2025 10:05 PM

Here is some of the team pulling out insulation from under the house! This group works hard and it shows in how much they accomplished today!

A Fresh Look

by Libby Braaten | June 10, 2025 10:09 PM

Some of the team came back to Mullen Bible Camp, where we are lodging, to support their ministry and help paint. This camp has served as a resource for the community even before Helene and continues to after. Glad our team is helping to support their mission to grow.

Good Neighbors

by Jennie Pakan | June 11, 2025 8:21 PM

Dana and Calvin are neighbors and they look out for each other. The hurricane put their community through a lot, but they keep on rising up each day and doing their best. Let's continue to pray for these dear people!

by Jennie Pakan | June 11, 2025 8:28 PM

It was a lot of work today, prepping and installing the subfloor. What an awesome crew we have!

Devotions Together

by Jennie Pakan | June 11, 2025 8:33 PM

We gathered with the other team serving this week, PVPC, and are having a devotional tome together. It's a great time to think about God, talk about our faith, and share how it relates to this week and our everyday lives.

K9 Training

by Libby Braaten | June 11, 2025 9:52 PM

Some of team Swaim got to work with the K9 training team that came to camp. They hid around the camp grounds and the dogs were given their scent and they practiced finding them. What a great organization.

From the Ground Up

by Libby Braaten | June 12, 2025 10:56 PM

What started as ruined floors and walls is now a space that we can safely walk around, with walls stripped to continue to rebuild  the house back into their home again. What a hard working crew at Dana’s today that showed such great teamwork and grit so to finish the week strong.

All I Want For Christmas is…

by Libby Braaten | June 12, 2025 11:04 PM

A nail gun!

A crew went back to Gertrude’s house today to finish up trimming within the majority of the house. They had so much fun together, worked really hard and learned a lot from one another.

The Last Supper

by Libby Braaten | June 12, 2025 11:08 PM

We enjoyed one last dinner together at The Copper Penny in Forest City. It was such a great week of getting to know each other, sharing stories, making memories, and so much laughter. And above all, glorifying a God who loves us and gave us the strength to do the work we did.

Packing Food

by Jennie Pakan | June 12, 2025 11:19 PM

Today we served with Washburn Community Outreach again. It was a big effort to prep and share the 380 boxes of food which would be abot 1000 meals. The line of cars that came for this needed food support was something that we will remember a long time.

Moving Mountains

by Jennie Pakan | June 12, 2025 11:21 PM

So many hands and hearts came together for this distribution day. We met more local and visiting volunteers that enjoyed serving there too.

Painting at Camp

by Jennie Pakan | June 12, 2025 11:23 PM

We had a final push to get some more painting done at the camp. We wrapped up painting in time for the heavy rain and thankfully, our paint job was still good. Whew!
