MADE IT TO HAWAIʻI

Our team landed safety to the island! After some Costco pizza, we headed straight to our campsite on the North Shore. Got settled in and had a PPM orientation - which introduced us to this week of ministry! A question we’re taking with us this week is: What does it look like to have and keep a servant heart?

Early Risers for Easter

North Shore Christian Fellowship

Joined NSCF this morning for Easter Sunday Service! It was a huge outdoor gathering where we worshipped, tried some local baked goods, and learned what it means to see Jesus as a living Savior! Great to be reminded of the simple truth and good news of the Gospel!

Lunch at da Beach

Zoomed to the beach to eat sandwiches and get in the water. Hale’iwa Beach isn’t looking her best since the floods from the last few weeks on the island. So, we ate lunch with a view and then made our way to Waimea Beach to swim

Shave Ice + Shopping

Worship

Fridge Clean Up

Kīʻi Kiʻi Farm Provisions make fruit smoothie packs and other goods from their farm. During the floods, their freezers filled with these filled up with water and almost broke. A few of our girls helped clean out the insides of these fridges to make it squeaky clean to bring their inventory back to the farm.

We were so blessed to work with Victor and Fred from Westside Alive at the Wāiʻanae Boat Harbor which previously was home to a large homeless population on the island. As it is being cleared out, we had the opportunity to talk to many people of the community and help clean up trash left on the floor.

The Trench Works!

Yesterday the team dug this trench yesterday. Half of us went back to Kīʻi Kiʻi Farm Provisions to help out with preparing for the upcoming storms. Here’s our after picture!

Shelf Builders

The last flooding was about 3 to 4 feet high and affected more than just all of the fruits snd veggies growing on the farm. It got to the supplies and tool so today the boys helping Stephanie build some shelves to reorganize their supplies

Makaliʻi Farm

We heard there was another farm nearby that needed hands to help. We visited Carrie’s Farm in Waialua area and learned about how her farm has been in rescue mode as the reservoirs have popped up and been turning her land into marsh. We got to bless her with hard workers! Her one self turned into a team of 13 to help prep for the storm hitting tomorrow.

Prayer

Had the opportunity to not only bless Carrie with unexpected help today but got to pray for her! Prayer goes a long way and we are so grateful for what we learned through just an hour or so of work

Van Got Stuck

As we were ready to head out our van got stuck deep in the mud! The students had to push, we tried using wood palettes, a gator with a rope, and all the things as the rain started back up again. However we prayed and the Lord’s timing is perfect — our mishap doesn’t surprise him! We continued to be adaptable to the situation!

One of Carrie’s farm neighbors came with the blessing of an orange tractor that helped pulled our van out! Praise God and for how community comes together to serve each other!

We shared how we saw God’s hand today being at different volunteer spots. We did a devotional on Ephesians 3 and had so many takeaways! Here specifically community is super connected and it’s inspiring to see how they show up for each other, for the houseless and for farmers in disaster response

Good morning! We’re headed to Waianae this morning but it’s an over an hour and a half away so our vans left before the sun was up, at 5am and 6am! Praying for energy and the spirit of bold faith as we go into our last day of ministry.

Waianae Baptist Church

We are partnering with Waianae Baptist Church and Westside Alive this morning for their weekly Bible and Baskets. They put together a mini church service and then hand out groceries/food to the local community in need.

Ministry today was more relational, we had encounters that allowed us to step out of our comfort zones and have conversations with the Waianae community! During our team meeting, we shared how being equipped by the spirit of God gives us confidence to have challenging conversations!
