Pastora Sonia taught some of us how to make pupusas, a Salvadorian staple. You all have no idea how delicious they are.

Youth Night

by Eduardo Herrera | July 27, 2025 12:06 AM

At night, we held a youth night where we invited young people from two other nearby churches. We worshiped and played some games, but we also had the opportunity to hear God's Word and make new connections.

by Katrina Hulme | July 28, 2025 12:33 AM

After church, we assembled the bags of groceries and cleaning supplies that we will be delivering to families later this week. We prayed over these bags and each family that the Lord is preparing the way for us to spend time with this week.

Prayer for the Pastor

by Katrina Hulme | July 28, 2025 12:36 AM

We spent some time getting to chat with Pastor Samuel and Pastora Sonia this afternoon. They shared a bit about their story, and we had the opportunity to ask questions and get advice from them also. We prayed over their lives that God would continue to give them what they need to serve in this ministry!

Afternoon in the Park

by Katrina Hulme | July 28, 2025 12:39 AM

Our afternoon was filled with basketball, soccer, making bracelets, and more as we spent time in the city park with new friends! Many people that do not attend the church came to hang out and Christian also shared the Gospel message. We pray that their lives would be impacted and they will get involved with the local church!

A Joyful Morning!

by Katrina Hulme | July 28, 2025 1:25 PM

Half our group was able to go to a school for special education this morning to hang out with the students. We had fun crafts, a piñata and lots of smiles!!

This was the first time the local church has been able to visit the school, but it won't be the last! We are glad to be able to help establish these connections for ministry.

VBS Day 1

by Alejandra Martínez | July 28, 2025 4:31 PM

Our first day with the children was filled with games, crafts, songs, and lots of fun. We learned about Joseph and what his brothers did to him.

For now, we'll leave him in jail, and tomorrow we'll find out what else is happening in his life.

Construction Work Day 1

by Alejandra Martínez | July 28, 2025 4:50 PM

It was also our first day of construction work at the church. We painted and cleaned the window frames and fences, did some gardening, and had lots of fun while doing it.

Prayer & Anointing

by Katrina Hulme | July 29, 2025 1:59 PM

This morning, we divided into three groups for food distribution. Each group was able to visit some families in Metapán to deliver groceries and spend time together, but most importantly, to pray over their needs.

We prayed and anointed Maria's home as she is trusting God for her husband to believe and come to church.

We walk through the community visiting families, getting to know them, blessing them, and spending time with them. It's wonderful to be blessed while blessing others.

VBS Day 2

by Alejandra Martínez | July 29, 2025 11:38 PM

It was wonderful to share with the children again, learning how Joseph's story ended and how God calls us to be instruments of blessing for others, even in the midst of our problems. We made colorful bracelets like Joseph's tunic.

Bilingual Worship Service

by Alejandra Martínez | July 30, 2025 12:05 AM

Today we were both encouraged and challenged during our bilingual worship service. It was a beautiful and meaningful experience to see people from different cultures and languages come together to worship the same God. The songs, prayers, and testimonies shared in both English and Spanish reminded us that the Kingdom of God transcends borders and languages.

We were encouraged by the warmth of the community and the tangible presence of the Spirit. We were also challenged to live out our faith more deeply and to value unity in the midst of diversity. This service was a living example of how the body of Christ can powerfully reflect His love when we come together with one purpose.

We leave with full hearts and a renewed sense of commitment.

Riley's Baptism

by Alejandra Martínez | July 30, 2025 12:09 AM

Tonight was a truly unforgettable moment—Riley’s baptism under the evening sky. Surrounded by our team and local community, we witnessed a powerful step of faith as Riley publicly declared their commitment to follow Jesus. The calm of the night, the soft light, and the quiet reverence of the moment made it even more special.

There was something deeply moving about seeing new life symbolized in the water, under the stars. We sang, we prayed, and we celebrated together, reminded once again of God’s transforming grace.

Construction Work Day 2

by Alejandra Martínez | July 30, 2025 12:14 AM

Today we continued our work with gardening and cleaning around the church. It was a day filled with teamwork, laughter, and purpose.

Even in the heat and hard work, we felt joy knowing we were serving the church community in a tangible way. Every small task felt meaningful—an offering of love and care for the space where so many gather to worship.

Windows Shop

by Alejandra Martínez | July 30, 2025 12:26 AM

Today we helped out at the window shop, where they're making the church's new windows. Although it wasn't directly at the church, we thought it was a meaningful way to support the work being done on the building. We had a great time and made new friends at the same time.

Cañas Dulces

by Katrina Hulme | July 31, 2025 12:34 AM

This morning we went up to Cañas Dulces, about 40 minutes out of Metapán, to visit families in the more rural areas. This is the community where Pastor grew up and has a coffee farm, so he knows the neighbors and their needs. It was a fun adventure and cool experience!

Forever in our Hearts

by Katrina Hulme | July 31, 2025 12:39 AM

We had some incredible, joyful visits and some hard visits today. We laughed, sang, prayed, cried, praised and thanked God in our visits. There are so many needs in this community, and we are thankful to be able to share love, groceries, and light - even if only for a short visit. In every house, we promised that we would continue praying for them as we go home.

Deep Cries Out!

by Katrina Hulme | July 31, 2025 12:43 AM

Today we continued with VBS and got to welcome some kids from another church in El Desagüe. Ryann and Riley have done an incredible job leading and translating during VBS, and their energy is unmatched!

The Gospel

by Katrina Hulme | July 31, 2025 12:45 AM

Apart from games, crafts, and songs, we have been sharing stories from the Bible throughout the week. Today we shared the story of Jesus, his crucifixion and resurrection!

Rain or Shine!

by Katrina Hulme | July 31, 2025 12:47 AM

The afternoon rain tried to stop our progress on the projects, but we could still paint under the roof! The Pastor's family has loved seeing the transformation as we trim trees, paint, and help clean. Soon, they will have the new windows as well!

See You Later Service

by Katrina Hulme | July 31, 2025 12:49 AM

Tonight we had our last service with the church, but we decided not to call it a goodbye service - it is a see you later service! We had a shared meal with the local church, some interactive activities during church, and some words of encouragement from Pastor. We got to pray over them as well, and express our gratitude for all they have done. We are forever thankful!

The Crew!

by Katrina Hulme | July 31, 2025 12:51 AM

All week long we have been able to hang out, worship, and laugh with the youth of the church. Whether doing ministry together, playing basketball, or walking down the street for pizza, we have enjoyed every moment with our new friends in El Salvador.

Food distribution day 3

by Alejandra Martínez | August 1, 2025 12:13 AM

Today marked our last day of food distribution, and it was both joyful and bittersweet. We’ve had the privilege of meeting so many families throughout the week—listening to their stories, sharing smiles, and offering something as simple yet meaningful as a bag of food.

As we handed out the final packages, we felt a deep sense of gratitude—for the opportunity to serve, for the connections made, and for the reminder that small acts of love can make a real difference.

Even though this part of the trip is ending, the impact continues—both in the community and in our own hearts.
