It’s 10pm but the team made it safely to the island! First things first is some late night pizza before we head up to camp.

Church in Makawao

by Mikaylee Garcia | July 13, 2025 8:37 PM

Went to Waipuna Chapel down the street from our camp site. We worshipped and learned about the first 2 chapters of Ruth. Ruth’s story is a great reminder of God’s kindness and redemptive power!! After service we got a chance to meet new people and talk to the church community like a group of YWAM students.

Lahaina Baptist Church

by Mikaylee Garcia | July 13, 2025 10:58 PM

Drove over to the affected communities in Lahaina, seeing how it’s slowly being rebuilt. Lahaina Baptist Church is a testament of how powerful prayer is, as it’s the only building that didn’t get burned during the fires in August 2023. We spent some time praying over this space as the church continues bringing the community together.

Lahaina Memorial

by Mikaylee Garcia | July 14, 2025 2:30 PM

Spent some time praying at the Lahaina Memorial. Here, we saw the names and faces of those who passed away. It really put into perspective of the ongoing healing and restoration happening in Maui and prayer is a HUGE part of that.

We got dinner down in Kahului at a local Sunday Market with different food trucks and booths. A lot of us tried food we’ve never tried before. There was live music and it was fun hangs! Here’s a few of the crew trying mochi donuts.

Getting Ready for the Week

by Mikaylee Garcia | July 14, 2025 4:51 PM

Back at the camp site, we did a team devotional and shared about our day from church service at Waipuna Chapel to seeing and praying in Lahaina. We talked about our heart posture and what it looks like to enter this week with humility and service reading parts of Matthew 6. We’re praying that this week we are earnestly serving God and seeking first His Kingdom.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Matthew 6:33

Malama Kula

by Mikaylee Garcia | July 14, 2025 5:02 PM

Our first ministry site is up in Kula. Malama Kula is a nonprofit that helps with fire prevention and services to residents in Kula, affected by the Kula fires. We worked with Alexis and Shannon, who explained the purpose behind their work. This lot is where a house used to be which has been cleared out and wood chipped. The team will work on clearing all the invasive weeds behind them so this place is ready for rebuilding. Scroll for the AFTER photo!

Let's Pray!

by Rose Brito | July 14, 2025 10:35 PM

This evening we mingled with those who came by St. Theresa's, to have dinner. Every night, 365 days a year, for the past 34 years, St. Theresa's serves hot meals for the unhoused, and those who are just hungry! Tonight, we got to be a part of that! What a blessing to be able to partner and serve with their ministry, Hale kau kau, and to serve and pray for those in need.
