Arrival to Teen Valley Ranch!

by Benjamin Quick | March 11, 2025 1:40 PM

The Messiah crew touches down in Western North Carolina, where they will be staying at the Teen Valley Ranch while they serve. They are set to work at various ministries throughout the week, and could not be more excited to get started!

Center for Latinos

by Benjamin Quick | March 11, 2025 1:44 PM

Today Messiah served at the Center for Latinos, a nonprofit organization that was created before the storms but has become a prominent community member because of the disasters, with people looking for supplies. They take in donations to then have available for the community, all from their own backyard. Messiah, serving alongside Bethel University, underwent multiple projects, which included sorting and organizing donations, cleaning up inside the house and office, and creating systems. They did an incredible job, and while the work was hard, they got to experience little glimpses of the impact that the storms had.

End of Day One

by Benjamin Quick | March 11, 2025 1:47 PM

After working at the Center for Latinos, we had a delicious dinner served by the Teen Valley Ranch staff, where afterwards in their group devotions they got to share how they had seen God in the work they were doing, and give examples as to how the storm had an impact on the community they were serving in. After meaningful devotions, they got to explore some of what the camp had to offer.

Day Two - Moving Mountains!

by Benjamin Quick | March 11, 2025 5:08 PM

Today our Messiah team went along one of the roads in the mountains, moving fallen tree limbs and bushes to mitigate further landslide danger. Our students worked diligently and with spirit, cutting down trees and moving brush down the mountain. They did so great! To celebrate, the owner of the house treated our students with some snacks :)

Afternoon Action

by Benjamin Quick | March 11, 2025 5:12 PM

After lunch, we went back to the Center for Latinos, to continue organizing tents and other house work. Here, some students worked alongside other students from Bethel to help tear up some of the vinyl of a floor that underwent flooding. Messiah worked hard and gave it their all, all while soaking up some of the North Carolina sun.

Mercy Chefs

by Benjamin Quick | March 12, 2025 5:07 PM

Today, Messiah embarked on an adventure with Mercy Chefs! Mercy Chefs is an organization that sends in cooks to disaster relief areas, cooking and providing food not only for those impacted by the disaster, but also for first responders and other volunteers! To support the work that they bless others with, our team helped bake cakes, cut vegetables, mix fruit, and wash dishes.

They also had the privilege of delivering some meals, allowing them to interact with community members and other organizations working to support the community after the storms

Wednesday Night Worship

by Benjamin Quick | March 13, 2025 12:10 PM

After a long day, we came together with the other schools who were giving their spring breaks to serve with PPM and worshipped the Lord. It was a time to restore our strength and find time with the Lord, and was a beautiful time with God.

Truck Restoration!

by Benjamin Quick | March 13, 2025 12:12 PM

We didn’t fully restore a whole truck, but our Messiah crew did clean out and organize one of the trucks used by PPM for service. Sometimes those who serve, need to be served themselves! After washing and finding a spot for every item, the truck looked fresh and was a lot easier to find items. This was our final project, and they crushed it!
