Cherry Lake 4-H Camp

by Meagan Buckland | November 7, 2024 2:38 PM

We started our work today with Cherry Lake 4-H Camp, whose mission is to develop life skills in youth through experiential education in a camp environment. We’re grateful for the opportunity to use the blessings the Lord has given us to support our brothers and sisters in their ministry.

The End Results of the Mess Hall

by Meagan Buckland | November 7, 2024 2:45 PM

Praise God for giving us the strength and energy to finish this project! The tree's and debris gave us a challenge, but we got it cleared. Now they don't have to climb over the rail to get in!

Storage Room #1 Finished!

by Meagan Buckland | November 7, 2024 2:50 PM

The other half of our team organized three storage closets at Lamp, creating a more accessible space after the large influx of donations following the hurricane. Mrs. Yurshema was thrilled to finally walk into the newly organized room, which now efficiently stores the shelter’s essential cleaning supplies. This reorganization will make it easier for the staff to maintain a clean, welcoming environment for everyone they serve.

Storage Room #2 Finished!

by Meagan Buckland | November 7, 2024 2:54 PM

Storage Room #2 is now organized and ready to distribute essential personal items, school supplies, and baby supplies to the community. The room also houses a few generators and fans donated to the shelter, which will provide vital support during emergencies.

by Meagan Buckland | November 7, 2024 3:05 PM

Storage Room #3 is now open and easily accessible, allowing staff to quickly gather essentials for daily needs. This organized space will make it easier for workers to provide comfort and care, ensuring they have everything needed to serve their community with love each day.

Nursery Work

by Meagan Buckland | November 8, 2024 8:22 PM

Today, we continued to work at Lamp. We focused on helping the mothers by organizing the nursery and sorting clothes for the kids who come through the shelter. It was a blessing to create a welcoming space for these families.

Serving Those Who Serve Us

by Meagan Buckland | November 8, 2024 8:38 PM

Today, we had the privilege of helping a woman (who serves in the military) by cleaning up her yard, which was covered in fallen debris and large limbs. Getting to serve someone who serves our country made the work especially meaningful.

Serving Our Partner Church

by Meagan Buckland | November 10, 2024 9:57 AM

A group of us had the privilege of serving the Gilpatricks by cleaning up their yard. They were blessed that no trees fell on their home. In the picture, you can see the stump facing away from their house. It’s a beautiful reminder that the Lord had His hand over this sweet couple.

Serving at Lamp

by Meagan Buckland | November 10, 2024 10:00 AM

We had the privilege of serving lunch at Lamp, where hot meals aren’t typically offered on Saturdays. Our team prepared and handed out a warm meal, taking time to connect with the residents. We had meaningful conversations, listened to their stories, and prayed with them, sharing God’s love and hope. It was a blessing to serve and be part of their day.

Goodbye for now…

by Meagan Buckland | November 10, 2024 10:04 AM

As we wrap up our mission trip, we are in awe of how God has moved throughout our time here. His presence was evident in every moment, every conversation, and every act of service. We’re deeply grateful to First Methodist Church of Valdosta for welcoming us with open arms, providing us with a place to stay, and inviting us to worship with them this morning. Their kindness and hospitality made us feel right at home, and we’re leaving with full hearts, thankful for the ways God has blessed this journey.

I just wanted to thank y'all for coming and serving in our community. I enjoyed getting to go on the prayer walk with you and worshipping with you and our youth Sunday night. You will always be welcome here and I pray that God blesses each of you.
