Arrival to DC!

by Benjamin Quick | May 12, 2025 11:37 PM

We finally have arrived in DC, and will be staying at the First Baptist Church of Waldorf this week! After meeting our PPM leaders and has a brief orientation, we got to tour the church and get settled for the night. Everyone was excited to be here, but ready for bed for service the next day. We will be serving at a food tomorrow, so see you then!

Martha’s Table

by Sean Endicott | May 13, 2025 7:53 PM

Today we had the opportunity of serving at Martha’s Table. Martha’s Table is a local food distribution center that feeds the local community fresh produce. This work is extremely important for the local community as they are currently experiencing a food crisis.

End of Day 1

by Benjamin Quick | May 14, 2025 10:44 AM

After our time at Martha’s Table, we got to explore the city of DC! Amidst the rain and clouds, we hopped on a tour bus and take us around the city, playing trivia and seeing historic monuments. With lots of long drives and rain we made it back to the church, where we enjoyed a hot meal of tacos, finishing the day with a debrief on what we were grateful for. Our discussion included how we viewed the world in light of our service today, and we got to encourage one another at the end. Then it was off to bed, but not without some dodgeball and hide and seek!

We are excited for what comes tomorrow!

Franciscan Monastery Garden

by Benjamin Quick | May 14, 2025 10:49 AM

After a delicious breakfast, we headed into the city to one of the hidden gems that DC hides. At the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, in the back it holds many acres of land that has been converted to orchards, gardens, and patches for growing all kinds of food. Everything that is grown here gets sent out for free, going to districts in DC that are going through a food desert, and struggle to receive fresh, healthy food.

We got to work on one of the garden patches for tomatoes, renewing the tarps and preparing the land for a fresh batch of tomato seeds. We had fun with all the dirt and mud, and enjoyed lunch while looking over the garden.
