Meeting our Partners

by Mikaylee | December 16, 2024 5:39 PM

A group of students from Azusa Pacific University have safely arrived for an upcoming week of relief ministry work with a few of our partners in Maui. This week, we get the opportunity to serve with N? Kia‘i O Maui, a non-profit organization which exists to provide emergency relief and assistance to everyone impacted by natural disasters and fires. The students met the founder and executive director, Auntie Nettie. We learned how N? Kia‘i O Maui serves displaced families from the Lahaina and Kula fires through the Lahaina Resource and Recovery Center. Auntie Nettie encouraged our team how to live out their faith by action, rather than words and how impact is far greater than making a difference. We got a tour of the space we will be stepping into to serve and prep for their big Christmas event. Also, we ate some delicious food at local food trucks! We are expectant for how the Lord will move on this trip and within this team. Please keep our team in your prayers — for safety, energy, and open hands to serve God’s people!

Some Kula Clean-up

by Dillon Crum | December 16, 2024 5:43 PM

Today we had the opportunity to serve alongside Malama Kula as they work to continue caring for the land and the people of Kula impacted by the upcountry fires. We helped pull Waddle an invasive species of trees that quickly grows and becomes a future fire hazard. Their mission is to use this devastation as an opportunity to restore the native landscape which will help prevent future fires. It was great to see the passion and dedication the leaders here have for their community.

Clearing the Waddle

by Dillon Crum | December 18, 2024 5:29 PM

Today we continued serving alongside Malama Kula. We worked on a property clearing invasive Waddle and the charred remains of large trees. It was a true joy serving alongside Niko and Alexis and to see how much care they continue to provide to their Kula neighbors.

Spreading some Christmas Cheer

by Dillon Crum | December 18, 2024 5:34 PM

Today we were back with Aunty Nettie at the Lahaina Resource and Recovery Center. We had the opportunity to help wrap hundreds of presents and gift bags for the large Christmas Celebration the LRRC is hosting on Saturday. Over 600 families are expected to come to the event. We are so inspired by Aunty Nettie's dedication to her community and her selfless service to all those impacted by the fires. She is a true testament to the love of Christ in action and it is a blessing to be a part of her grand vision for helping Maui's impacted families heal. We look forward to more work alongside her this week!
