Welcome back to Tulsa

by Kari Beadner | March 15, 2025 9:46 PM

We arrived in Tulsa for the 3rd time for some and first time for others! Kari our Trip Leader suggested Mother Road Market for dinner and it was great!

We went to Anthem Church our partner for the week and got settled into our rooms. Some of us went for a walk and then we had our PPM Orientation meeting. We prayed and we sang of the Good Plans that the Lord has for us this week.

Seat at the table

by Kari Beadner | March 16, 2025 1:09 PM

Bobby Hughes delivered a powerful message about 'the seat at the table,' drawing from Luke 7:36 and exploring the themes of the broken woman, the broken man, and the broken world.

We visited Stand Pipe Hill today, where we learned about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. We continue to pray for reconciliation and unity within the Christian church in Tulsa.

by Kari Beadner | March 16, 2025 6:34 PM

Our next 'Go Week' event was a movie night at Anthem! We enjoyed pizza, popcorn, and 'The Prince of Egypt.' It was a fun night with many community kids learning about God's faithfulness.

Not your Average Joe

by Kari Beadner | March 17, 2025 9:14 PM

We had the pleasure of having our morning devotions at the Not your Average Joe coffee shop. We love this place as they employ adults with different abilities and they are exceptional!

We were able to pray for Craig and his staff and it was very inspiring!

Little Lighthouse

by Kari Beadner | March 17, 2025 9:18 PM

Next up we served alongside Anthem Church at the Little Lighthouse School for young children with diverse abilities. This wonderful free school for kids under 6 years old is a light in the darkness for many families with children who are not easily accepted in traditional childcare and preschools.

We worked hard cleaning up the playground. Even in the wind and smokey skies everyone pitched in to make a huge difference!

Praying for Pastor Andrew

by Kari Beadner | March 17, 2025 9:21 PM

Last night we were able to pray for Pastor Andrew as he needed healing in his back before beginning the long 12 hour drive to Mexico with his team of 28 Anthem members.

The team will build a house for a family in need. We pray for a fruitful ministry week!

Outsiders House

by Kari Beadner | March 17, 2025 9:24 PM

We visited the Tulsa filming location of 'The Outsiders,' now a museum. Though it was supposed to be closed, we were thrilled to find it open! We explored the gift shop and even spoke with a historian who was in the film as a 13-year-old. It was a fantastic surprise!

Grocery Box TDC

by Kari Beadner | March 17, 2025 9:30 PM

A new Grocery Box Store in the Dream Center's parking lot offers hope to the neighborhood. This small store provides nutritious food in a designated food desert, an innovative idea with the potential for real community impact.

Bridging Hunger

by Kari Beadner | March 18, 2025 11:04 AM

One of our favorite ministries is packing grocery bags at Bridging Hunger. The volunteers and staff take this job very seriously.

Melissa prayed that with every bag that is packed we are packing for a soul to know Jesus.

Pastor Rob has a challenge for us all to have a goal and his goal is to feed 10K children this summer who have no lunch when they are home from school.

Change of plans

by Kari Beadner | March 19, 2025 10:30 PM

We met Ellis, expecting to pack food boxes after lunch. However, Ellis surprised us with a change of plans: 'Let's go play with the kids!' We canvassed South Haven with Ellis, who grew up there and knows the local children, distributing flyers for the Tulsa Dream Center's open gym. As we returned to the campus, the kids followed closely behind.

Osage Nation Museum

by Kari Beadner | March 21, 2025 4:18 AM

We learned a lot at the Osage Nation Museum in Pahaska, OK.

Paula shared a lot of history of the Osage people. We listened asked questions and learned about the history of these special people who Pastor Larry came from.

Pastor Larry shared with us a lot about his family and how he is now learning about his Osage history as an adult.

by Kari Beadner | March 21, 2025 4:19 AM

Outside of the Museum is the Osage Veterans Monument.

Larry and a few of his family members are named in this monument.

It was a really cold windy day so we looked quickly and made our way back to the cars.

Dance Arbor

by Kari Beadner | March 21, 2025 4:20 AM

Pastor Larry shares that the Dance Arbor is the center of the community. He shared how each clan enters the Dance Arbor after dressing and being called by the town crier.

God called Larry to himself through the beat of the drum. We loved learning more about Pastor Larry and his culture as we dive deeper into this life long relationship.

Indian Tacos

by Kari Beadner | March 21, 2025 4:21 AM

We traveled back to Broken Arrow and prepared for a Drum Performance and Indian Taco night.

The fry bread was wonderful and we learned how the bread is blessed and prepared in a very special way.

We all enjoyed it very much!

The beat of the Drum

by Kari Beadner | March 21, 2025 5:21 AM

These men have been sitting at the drum together for many years. They come to worship and to remember where they come from.

Many of them have been freed from addiction while sitting around the drum.

This drum is Pastor Larry's. It was given to him for his birthday as a gift from his wife and kids.

Jeremy (plaid shirt) crafted the drum with buffalo hide.

We were so blessed to have these men play for us.

Long term relationship

by Kari Beadner | March 21, 2025 5:22 AM

This is not the end. This long term relationship continues and we can't wait to come back again next year.

Worship

by Kari Beadner | March 21, 2025 5:23 AM

After the drum and tacos we got ready for our evening meeting and we ran into a group of Anthem Students and we asked them to lead us in worship. We sang Build my Life and it was beautiful.

Every night we had a debrief meeting which were wonderful times of devotion and growing in unity.

Packing Mac

by Kari Beadner | March 21, 2025 5:24 AM

We loved being back at the Oklahoma Food Bank! We had a good time packing pasta into 1 pound bags.

In Oklahoma 1 out of 4 children are hungry

We were able to be apart of a few reels that they did for social media as well. It was a good time!

City Lights

by Kari Beadner | March 21, 2025 5:27 AM

Even though we had a very early flight on Friday morning, we went out to serve at City Lights of Tulsa. We had our closing meeting before dinner and we had a special time of affirmations.

Meagan, another PPM staff joined us as she gets ready to serve with another team this coming week and Pastor Larry was there too!

At City Lights every Thursday night, many volunteers come out to serve a few hundred friends who have been affected by homelessness. We serve a meal, drink, resources and prayer.

The whole purpose is to build community with friends.

What an amazing way to top off and end our week!
