Church Service
by Benjamin Quick | April 13, 2025 10:03 PM
This morning, our team joined the Our Savior Lutheran Church to celebrate Palm Sunday. We got to experience Bible study and youth group before joining the congregation in the worship center to wave palms, ready scripture, and learn about the Easter story when Jesus rides in on a donkey, amidst the shouts of “Hosanna!” There was the option of partaking in communion at the end of the service, and afterwards there was a celebration for some of the kids where this was there first communion. A beautiful start to the day!

Wider Circle & OSLC Children
by Robert Siple | April 14, 2025 5:17 PM
Today, our group from Faith Baptist had the incredible opportunity to serve at A Wider Circle, a powerful nonprofit working to end poverty across the DC region. We were honored to support their mission of providing essential household items, career resources, and neighborhood partnerships that uplift individuals and families. It was a day filled with purpose, teamwork, and compassion.
In addition, our youth had a beautiful opportunity to take on leadership roles in serving the children’s ministry at our host church, Our Savior Lutheran Church. They led songs, crafts, and shared the love of Jesus through teachings and joyful interaction. We’re so thankful for this chance to grow, serve, and shine Christ’s light together in the community!

Understanding History
by Benjamin Quick | April 15, 2025 5:24 PM
Last night Natasha, who has been our coordinator at the church, graciously gave her time to sit down with the team to share some about the history of DC and how that has caused disparity in the communities. Using visual demonstrations, she dived into the history and creation of DC, the current makeup and economic advantages are that certain areas receive, and how gentrification has an impact. The group discussed the impact and potential ways to seek justice, and the takeaway focused on a remembrance of how our actions impact those who are at the mercy of rules and laws already set in place, and their disadvantaged status. Thanks to Natasha, our group was able to take this new understanding with us as we ventured out into the communities, and gave us fresh eyes to see how they have been impacted.

Playing In The Dirt - A Day of Service and Blessing
by Robert Siple | April 15, 2025 5:27 PM
Our group from Faith Baptist Church was honored to spend a day volunteering at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America, helping prepare planting beds in their beautiful gardens. This sacred space is home to the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild, whose mission is to grow and donate fresh produce to those in need—a true act of love in action!
In addition to serving at the Monastery, we were also blessed with the opportunity to work alongside the children’s ministry at Our Saviour Lutheran Church again. Sharing time, laughter, and faith with these young hearts was a joy and a gift.
We are so thankful for these meaningful experiences and the chance to serve in both body and spirit. To God be the glory!

Serving Together During Holy Week

Serving Together During Holy Week
This Holy Week, our group from Faith Baptist had the joy and privilege of being the hands and feet of Jesus while serving alongside the wonderful leaders of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
From refreshing the children’s playgrounds and assembling a large shade tent, to landscaping and helping with final touches around the church, we were honored to help prepare the space for a meaningful week of worship and reflection.
One of the highlights was helping lead a children’s worship service—filled with music and laughter. And later, presented a balloon-costumed play for the children that brought the story of God's love and saving grace through Christ to life in the most fun and joyful way!
We’re so grateful for the warm partnership and the chance to serve together in Christ. What a beautiful reminder that when we work in unity, God’s love shines even brighter.

Exploring Faith, History, and Fellowship in D.C.
by Robert Siple | April 17, 2025 8:02 PM
Our youth group had an amazing day in Washington, D.C.! They began at the Museum of the Bible, where they explored powerful exhibits that brought Scripture to life in exciting and meaningful ways. Then they visited the Lincoln Memorial, reflecting on the values of courage and unity, and enjoyed a scenic walk along the National Mall.
After a full day of learning and exploring, they returned to Our Savior Lutheran Church for a delicious Mission BBQ dinner—fellowship never tasted so good! The day was topped off with a sweet stop at Rita’s for dessert.
It was a day full of inspiration, laughter, and connection—one we’ll always remember with gratitude and joy.

Serving as the Hands and Feet of Jesus in DC
by Robert Siple | April 18, 2025 8:27 AM
This week, our young adults and leaders from Faith Baptist Rexford had the blessing of serving in Washington, DC. Whether through acts of kindness, prayer, or simply showing up with open hearts, we sought to be the hands and feet of Jesus in every moment.
God moved in powerful ways, both in the people we met and within our own hearts. It was a week full of growth, connection, and a deeper understanding of what it means to serve like Christ.
Prayer for Safe Travels:
Lord, thank You for this opportunity to serve. As we head home, we ask for safe travels and continued unity. May the seeds planted this week grow and bear fruit. Use us for Your glory, wherever we go. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
We’re excited to stay connected and can’t wait to see how God continues to work through this amazing group!
