Staff: Jeff Logsdon

Late Night

by Jeff Logsdon | June 23, 2025 8:44 AM

The team arrived safely in Tucson following a long day of travel from Minnesota into Phoenix, but first, In N Out Burger! That was a delicious meal before getting on the road and arriving at Hope City Church. We had the option of going to bed or resetting the sanctuary for worship on Sunday morning (the carpets were just cleaned). We opted to help get things ready for Sunday. Then, we celebrated our long day together with cookies and milk! Welcome to AZ!

Dutch!

by Jeff Logsdon | June 23, 2025 8:48 AM

There was a strong pull towards the Dutch Bros experience this morning before church and we got to meet Andrew! He was so moved by our time with him, just ordering coffee at the window. He also wanted the picture to remember our time together. We may be back? The week is just getting started.

Meeting New Friends

by Jeff Logsdon | June 23, 2025 8:53 AM

Every Sunday breakfast is served before church so that we can sit and listen to how our friends from the surrounding community have experienced their week. This has become a powerful time for building relationships together. Our team acknowledged that it felt like everyone knew each other, even though there are always new guests that visit us right off of the street.

The 5 Minute Gospel

by Jeff Logsdon | June 23, 2025 9:00 AM

How do you "Rep The Code"? We got to hear a message on Sunday morning that is still resonating within many of us as we focus on what it means to have accountability with other like-minded Christ followers. In this picture, Brian was also invited to share God's story and how that has impacted his life through The 5 Minute Gospel.

Dinner Time

by Jeff Logsdon | June 23, 2025 9:05 AM

This wasn't just an opportunity to eat great pizza together! Our team was actually invited to pray for nearly every space in this community and dedicate each space to the Lord and His provision and protection for each home! We got to listen to their stories as they shared about their lives with us!

The Invitation

by Jeff Logsdon | June 23, 2025 10:15 AM

In all of our visits with this community, and the meals we have shared together, we have never been invited to pray with this selfless man. It was a sweet moment, especially for those who know him.

The Walls of Jericho

by Jeff Logsdon | June 23, 2025 9:23 PM

Have you ever prepared for something that never came to fruition? Our team did all the hard work of preparing for today's events and then there was an interesting curve ball. Our leaders were super proud of how the team responded when faced with unexpected circumstances. Perhaps this skit about the Walls of Jericho will be better timed for a future opportunity?

In The Land of Goshen

by Jeff Logsdon | June 23, 2025 9:25 PM

What an incredible place to visit on the east side of Tucson! Even though Goshen Ministries is in Tucson, it feels like an international experience. And the hospitality is second to none.

A Learning Opportunity

by Jeff Logsdon | June 23, 2025 9:29 PM

Pastor Bigimba, his wife, Aurore, and their beautiful family share the history of Goshen Ministries and the awesome community that God has entrusted to them. We felt so grateful for being able to worship together here in their space.

GAP Ministries

The impact this organization has made for foster families throughout Pima County has been incredible! Being able to serve with their volunteer staff today was a blessing.

GAP Kitchen

Countless children throughout Tucson have been fed by this amazing organization and it felt good to be a part of what they are doing at the GAP Kitchen while we were here.

Parent Night Out

by Jeff Logsdon | June 24, 2025 7:33 AM

Drawing on the concrete with sidewalk chalk and shooting hoops together were just a few ways that we loved on kids while their parents made the most of a couple of hours of free time.

Friendship Bracelets

by Jeff Logsdon | June 24, 2025 7:39 AM

It seems like a normal activity to do together for a Parent Night Out, but making these friendship bracelets also provided the perfect space for processing personal loss and grief. There is often more happening below the surface of people's lives. Last night our hearts were full just being present in the moment with one another.

Dance Dance Revolution?

by Jeff Logsdon | June 24, 2025 7:46 AM

We may not have gotten to make a "simple building craft" during our first Parent Night Out, but the week is still young and we DID get to blow off some steam through a little bit of church clap! It is also highly likely that water games might make an appearance in our future together, too.

It's A Wrap

by Jeff Logsdon | June 24, 2025 7:51 AM

Our evening wrap up was rich with reflection as we noted the many invaluable experiences that were gleaned from a full day together and the various God-moments we got to share with everyone we encountered! We can't wait to see what the next day will bring!

Doing Hard Things

by Jeff Logsdon | June 25, 2025 4:54 AM

Unbelievable! Why do they put these lids on soooo tightly?! Today we visited a local Synagogue or Shul that we partner with to provide meals for our unhoused friends every month.

It's Not A Competition

by Jeff Logsdon | June 25, 2025 4:58 AM

We were given a challenge to form an assembly line to see how many PB&J's we could create in one hour and fifteen minutes. Game on! This was definitely a competition! And we were built for this!

Winner! Winner!

by Jeff Logsdon | June 25, 2025 5:03 AM

Our team made 750 sandwiches in 40 minutes! BOOM! Our time allotted was 1hour and 15 minutes. This felt so satisfying! Now we get to share these meals with all of our unhoused friends in several of our local parks. But first, we got to meet Rabbi Avi.

A Sneak Preview

by Jeff Logsdon | June 25, 2025 5:11 AM

One of the newest partners at Hope City that we were introduced to is an organization called Harvest 912. This organization provides a clinic each month that washes feet and fits each of our guests with a brand new pair of work boots. It began with serving 20 per month. Today this ministry serves 50 per week! The harvest is plenty and Hope City was so thankful for the laborers that came to help this week from Crossroads!

Part Two

by Jeff Logsdon | June 25, 2025 5:20 AM

It was exciting to see the kids again for the second time during parent night out! Drawing together on the sidewalk helped to decompress from a full day in the parks handing out all of our PB&J sandwiches. We prayed with many people today, and we were also blatantly turned away by many that did not welcome any prayers on their behalf. The reality of so many people who were feeling deep hurts and pain actually compelled our team to pray for them during our debrief meeting after Parent Night Out.
Part Two

Let Them Fly

by Jeff Logsdon | June 25, 2025 7:58 AM

You know that a Parent's Night Out event in Tucson, in June, has not realized its purpose until ALL the kids have been drenched by a water balloon battle. Go ahead! Let them fly!

Dance Off

by Jeff Logsdon | June 25, 2025 8:10 AM

And the water balloon battle was followed up with a dance off! Two teams were created and their choice of music and their dance routines were chosen. Send it!

We got to meet several, new kids tonight and the best compliment from many of these families, including our newest guests, was that they didn't want to leave!

We are praying for the opportunity to see them get connected with Hope City again on Sundays. Many of them already visit the clinic that is hosted by Hope City on Thursdays with Harvest 912.

Congratulations to our dancers and a successful end to Parent's Night Out!
