Arrived at Puerto Rico!

by Gabriela Bravo | February 15, 2025 4:35 PM

After a tiring flight, we are more than happy to feel the wind in our hair and the warm sun shining on us! The Lord has blessed us with great weather and great food too. Eating some local “pinchos” has been a delicious experience!

Morning Bible Study

by Gabriela Bravo | February 16, 2025 9:42 AM

Today we are joining Primera Iglesia Bautista de Canóvanas in their early morning bible study! This is an enlightening time we’re having, learning about a pastor’s role in church!

Blessings and Prayers

by Gabriela Bravo | February 16, 2025 3:28 PM

After a delicious lunch, we are having a prayer walk in the community Pastor Dieppa dearly cares for. We’re praying for people, taking prayer requests, and blessing them with much needed groceries to spread God’s love to their lives. Mark 16:15

Sweet Joy!

by Gabriela Bravo | February 16, 2025 3:35 PM

Now we’re enjoying some great ice cream from Georgetti’s, and some of us even got to try new flavors! In Psalm 34:8 (NKJV), it says, "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and just trust in God!
Sweet Joy!

Morning Preparations

by Gabriela Bravo | February 17, 2025 9:02 AM

Up and ready to serve Pastor Dieppa’s community! After discussions and planning, we’ve got a great day of work projects ahead of us! Looking forward to getting to know and helping others here in Canóvanas and Loíza.

In Loiza!

by Heather Rivera Gonzalez | February 17, 2025 9:14 AM

As some of us are working in the community of Canóvanas, a few of us are working in the house of Priscilla in Loiza! This morning we are pressure washing her roof and removing debris from her yard that has been here since Hurricane Maria.

In Canóvanas!

by Heather Rivera Gonzalez | February 17, 2025 10:03 AM

At Benjamin's house, we are helping clean his house and yard. It is a wonderful experience getting to meet new brothers and sisters in Christ.

Puerto Rican Love Language

by Gabriela Bravo | February 17, 2025 12:37 PM

As we clean Benjamin’s house, we have been able to meet some wonderful people of the congregation who are helping out as well! A woman named Melanie served us some guava juice that she made from her own grown tree! It is a blessing to serve with these beautiful people we’re meeting.

Blessed!

Meeting Priscilla today was a blessing. Her joy in the midst of her life struggles is truly inspiring. She even introduced us to her mom and sisters!

Helping The Church

by Gabriela Bravo | February 17, 2025 6:55 PM

At Primera Iglesia Bautista de Canóvanas, some of us have stayed to work on pressure washing the basketball court and scraping mold from the fence! We have been able to multitask by dividing up the work, remembering that just like body parts we each have an important role and must work together for the body to function! 1 Corinthians 12:12-20

Crazy Excited for Bio Bay!

by Gabriela Bravo | February 17, 2025 7:03 PM

Pose for the crazy picture! We’re very excited to be enjoying the experience of Bio Bay for some recreational time after our work projects of the day! It is such a blessing to witness the sunset and bioluminescent algae in a kayak tour. God’s creation continues to leave us in awe.

Panchy’s Breakfast

by Gabriela Bravo | February 18, 2025 10:44 AM

Having breakfast at Panchy’s bakery has been a great way to start the day! While we eat some delicious sandwiches, we do more discussing about what today is going to look like, making sure we are all on the same page. We want to do our best for God always!

Skit Making!

by Gabriela Bravo | February 18, 2025 11:12 AM

Let’s get creative! It is a blessing to spend time with the kids of Nueva Academia Bautista Sotera Sánchez. First, we’re giving them an example with our Adam and Eve skit and then we help them create their own! This is a great and entertaining way to learn and teach more about the Bible!

Roof Sealing!

by Gabriela Bravo | February 18, 2025 4:23 PM

Since the roof is clean from yesterday, we’ve gotten the opportunity to come back to Priscilla’s house and seal her roof! More of us have gotten to meet her, and we cannot stop talking about what a blessing she is. Getting to know the community is amazing.

Fence Work

by Gabriela Bravo | February 18, 2025 4:42 PM

Another of our projects today is using primer on the church and academy’s fence. While doing this, we’ve been able to do some bonding, which is something every team needs! Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Benjamin’s House!

by Gabriela Bravo | February 18, 2025 4:53 PM

Serving as a missionary has been an amazing way to see God saying “it’s your turn to be served”. As we’ve been painting his house today, we have been able to get to know Benjamin and learn about his mission trips.

Prayer Service!

by Heather Rivera Gonzalez | February 18, 2025 9:46 PM

Tonight we are participating in the prayer service at Primera Iglesia Bautista de Canóvanas. Becky and Diem shared testimonies, and Nolan played the piano. At the end of the service, the church members prayed over us in Spanish and we were able to pray over them in English. This is the Church.

Priscilla's House

by Heather Rivera Gonzalez | February 19, 2025 11:00 AM

At Priscilla's house we are cleaning up the yard by removing debris and cutting the grass. We are happy to be giving her a fresh start!

Painting Benji’s House

by Gabriela Bravo | February 19, 2025 11:29 AM

We are back at it at Benjamin’s house! We are glad to keep serving this fellow missionary and actually paint his house with a color he likes! This red color was picked by him and we’re more than glad to help him out with it!

Gate to the Academy

by Gabriela Bravo | February 19, 2025 11:37 AM

Another part of our team is working on the fence of the academy, this time with paint! We’re starting off with the gate so nobody has a problem opening it later on. Psalm 24:7 "Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in."

Finished!

by Heather Rivera Gonzalez | February 19, 2025 2:48 PM

Priscilla's roof has been coated with two coats of sealer! She is so happy that the work is done, but is sad that we have to leave. She said next time we come she will cook lots of food for us!

New Colors!

by Heather Rivera Gonzalez | February 19, 2025 2:57 PM

This afternoon we are finishing the front of Benjamin's house! It looks like a brand new house with the new colors.

Finishing the Priming!

On our last work day, we’re doing our best to finish priming the fence. This time, it’s all hands on deck! Team work makes the dream work!

Visiting Silvana & Family!

by Gabriela Bravo | February 20, 2025 3:04 PM

We have gotten the opportunity to provide a donation to Silvana, her mom Luz, and her daughter Paola, who lost so much after Hurricane María in 2017. Some of us had the opportunity to meet them on a previous trip so it is such a blessing to see them and get a chance to pray for them in person!

Bittersweet Goodbyes

by Gabriela Bravo | February 20, 2025 5:06 PM

We had the opportunity to say our goodbyes to the homeowners, Priscilla and Benjamin, so now we take a moment to appreciate and pray for Pastor Dieppa who has been such a great person to serve and has served us with humbleness. His church and community have impacted us so much this week. We’re sad to leave, but happy we got to meet such amazing people.

Zip Lining!

by Heather Rivera Gonzalez | February 20, 2025 5:15 PM

This afternoon we are going on a zipline tour through the rainforest! There are 8 total that go through the canopy. It's beautiful!

Luquillo Beach!

by Heather Rivera Gonzalez | February 20, 2025 9:26 PM

Of course we had to dip our toes in the water one more time before heading home tomorrow! After some time at the beach, we had a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

One Last Team Pic

by Gabriela Bravo | February 21, 2025 1:39 PM

Of course we had to take a last picture at Plaza Colón, our drop-off/pick-up area for today as we spent some time in Old San Juan.  As we say one last goodbye to Puerto Rico and our mission leaders, we look forward to getting home, but feel sad about leaving. It’s bittersweet but we’re glad we’ve had this experience!
