Shalom Christian Academy

We arrived safely last night and after some breakfast this morning we are ready to hear God's word! 

We are heading to dinner with the Poovey Youth Group! Blessed for time together with good food and good company! 

This morning we enjoyed a pancake breakfast before spending time in God's word to prepare our hearts for a busy day of work. 

Today our whole team spent the day helping a sweet lady whose beautiful property had many fallen trees. She shared that after the storm hit, she couldn't get off her property for 4 days until someone came to remove the tree across her driveway.

One of her storage sheds was crushed and we helped her sort what she could save, and we moved her valuable items to a new place. 

We also were able to pile all of the cut trees and branches to be picked up at a later time. 

We ended our time working today by praying over the home we served at and her personally. Thankful for the blessing to serve and connect with her. 

After a delicious dinner, we ended our night playing some games with the Poovey Chapel youth who came by to spend time with us!

Today half of our team got the privilege of serving a family that was devastated by hurricane Helene. We worked to help reorganize some things as well as remove flooring and drywall in their home. 

The other half of our team went to the Newland Fair Grounds where we organized donations and prepared thanksgiving dinner baskets to be handed out to families later this week. We sorted over 100 buckets. 

The Poovey Chapel Youth Group have been so kind and good to us. They invited us to a local basketball game with them. After a hard day's work, it was a great way to enjoy the evening!
