Asbury Church - Tulsa

Undeterred by storms and weather, the Asbury team is ready to serve in Jamaica! We ask for your prayers as they serve the local church and communities this week.

Last night, the PPM staff fueled up with delicious Chinese food. We need all the nourishment we can get to keep up with Asbury's energetic service this week!

We have arrived and are loading up to head out to our home for the week.  The team is all smiles and can't wait for an amazing week.

Craft preparations are in full swing! Our engineer team is creating wells for the 'Woman at the Well' craft. The children at the school are going to love it!

Serving at Spicy Hill Basic School today! Carley, Miller, Isaac, Becky, and Lillian shared the story of Jesus' birth with the 4-year-olds through fun songs, stickers, and crafts.

The children at Jacobs Well Basic School were thrilled to have Bo lead their devotion this morning!

The kindergarteners were overjoyed to have our team today, arriving just in time for devotions. A true blessing!

We anticipate completing the Gidden residence's structure by the end of the week. We will provide updates.

The team worked diligently to fill the foundation and precisely measured the lumber for the house's framework.

We are starting our day at Granville Primary School with 240 beautiful children.  We can't wait to spend time in their classrooms loving on them this morning.

Rhett was quite popular with the older students today. They spent time getting in I know each other during their break.  It was great to hear the questions that were being asked and the bond that formed between them in such a short time.

The team put up the framework for the 4 walls… it’s all coming together 

Yesterday we were able to deliver adult diapers to one of the local nursing homes.  We had visited the home on Sunday and the staff had shared that they were out of diapers and had been for some time.  

Our group leader Kim, heard the conversation and sprung into action.  We went and purchased almost $300 worth of diapers for the infirmary.  The joy that came from the staff and the nurses brought tears to our eyes.  Shouts of joy rang through the air as word got out that they had diapers.  What a humbling visit and delivery it was.  

Another family heard about the need after we had went there and sent another sizeable donation in, so off we will go tomorrow for another purchase and delivery to the infirmary.  

We are so humbled.

The labor of love from all of these hands has been incredible to watch they have truly served hard this week.  

Excellent progress; the cement board walls are nearly complete.

The team demolished the church sign to build a wished for drive way. This was a fulfilling project for the team and we can hardly wait to see the transform space at Greenwood Baptist Church.

Steve has been serving with Asbury for many years.  He has brought so much joy over the years to the children and people of Jamaica. He has blessed Praying Pelican Missions as well with the love he brings and willingly shares even with our staff.  

The kids set up a situation of restriction for Donavan and others, but he's the only one who seems genuinely happy in it.

The assistant pastor for the church came by to pray with and for the team and thank them for their dedication

When the team was asked today "Do you want to finish up our project or head back to lodging now" knowing they would be working much later than planned they without hesitation said, "Finish our project".  

Team 1 has worked so hard this week to be a blessing to Greenwood Baptist Church.

God's love has truly been evident in each of their lives.  

We gathered together to pray over the church, the community and Pastor Smith and his family.  It was a beautiful time of lifting them up before we left on our final day of ministry.

Lingering water in the walkway/ driveway is now a thing of the past.

Greenwood Baptist members and visitors won't have to walk or drive through slippery muds; glory to God, Asbury 'team 1', has avail themselves and executed well.

The team worked so hard this week to give the William knibb Baptist church a beautiful parking lot and we had the opportunity to start the process. Our team worked tirelessly and it payed off. The pastor stood in awe of what was accomplished and gave us his thanks and prayed over us

What a beautiful way to end our week in Jamaica.  Last night, after we returned from rec day we were blessed with this amazing sunset.  

God was in the midst of everything that was accomplished this week.  The team served hard and loved hard.  From a Sunday School class dedication for a building they started last year to driveways, a home built for a couple that desperately needed a place to live, and also loving on beautiful children in 3 different schools, it was a week filled with God's love and Grace. 

Thank you, Asbury for your constant care and love for the people in Jamaica.  

Pastor Wayne Smith and his family joined us this morning for breakfast and spent time in prayer for our team before we headed to the airport.

It was a blessing to serve alongside him this week.  We cannot wait until next year.
