The First of Many!

by Katrina Hulme | July 28, 2024 12:55 AM

For our first dinner at the church, they treated us to the national food staple: pupusas! We tried several different flavors including the classics of beans & cheese, mixed, and a unique plant called loroco. They were all delicious, and we plan to have many more pupusas this week!

Sunday School

by Katrina Hulme | July 28, 2024 3:05 PM

We started this morning with the kids in Sunday School and we shared the creation story. We also talked about how God created each of us uniquely and made a craft with our finger prints. It was a great way to start the week!

Fellowship with Teachers

by Katrina Hulme | July 28, 2024 3:09 PM

After Sunday school we spent some time chatting with the teachers of kids ministry here. We shared our experiences, challenges, and the community we have within the kids ministry. We also were encouraged, as we all believe in the importance of kids ministry for the future of the church and as a tool to reach more families.

A Pastor's Heart

by Katrina Hulme | July 29, 2024 12:06 PM

We spent time with Pastor Julio, hearing his heart and how the Lord has called him into ministry here in El Desagüe. When they first started ministry here, they thought it would be for one year and there were no kids. Now, 8 years later, Pastor and his family continue to love this community well and there are 25+ kids that regularly come to learn about Jesus on Sundays! It hasn't been easy, but the Lord has been faithful.

Our goal this week is to encourage and love Pastor in everything we do!

by Katrina Hulme | July 29, 2024 12:33 PM

This morning, we are taking a boat across the Laguna de Guija to visit a school in a small town called Azacualpa. This lagoon is half in El Salvador and half in Guatemala, but we are staying in El Salvador!

Values & Community

by Katrina Hulme | July 29, 2024 5:19 PM

We visited another school near the church this afternoon and had a short time with the youth. Aaron shared a message about the values that the Bible teaches in Colossians 3:12-14.

Fishermen Ministry

by Katrina Hulme | July 29, 2024 5:35 PM

Pastor Julio invited fishermen families to the church this afternoon for some time together. El Desagüe is a community that depends heavily on fishing due to the proximity to the lagoon. However, they don't receive much help from outside the community and their livelihoods depend on how many fish they get.

Jen shared a devotion, Justin shared his testimony, and then we prayed for each person before giving them the groceries. We pray that the Lord will work in each of their lives!

Kids Ministry

by Katrina Hulme | July 30, 2024 11:42 AM

We continued with the story of creation with the kids last night, and had some more fun dancing, playing games, and doing a paper mosaic craft. Around 40 kids came plus a few youth!

Food Distribution

by Katrina Hulme | July 30, 2024 11:54 AM

This morning we are visiting families in the community and delivering groceries. Some families are church members, and others are connected to someone in the church who knows of a need they have. Three of the women from the church are joining us in this ministry time.

Prayer, Prayer, & More Prayer!

by Katrina Hulme | July 30, 2024 4:30 PM

At the end of each home visit, we pray over the home and family. The Lord is the one who sees, who provides, and who cares for His people - we are just instruments!
