First Christian Church

Kevin, Ishi and Laura are ready and excited to meet the group and for what God has ready for us!

We made it to Costa Rica. We are so happy to be here meeting our church family once again!

We made it to Lagunilla. We are amazed about all the improvements that God has allowed to happen here. We're excited about reuniting with our family in Christ!

We started out the day in the best way possible, by sharing the word of God. Anne encouraged us to be a blessing for others. We prayed for each other, for the community of Lagunilla and we worshiped the Lord!

Before the teaching started we had the chance to introduce ourselves to the community. We want to make meaningful connections with our local family and it starts like this.

This morning Pastor Brent shared about Luke 5:17 and how God cares not only about our spiritual needs but the physical ones as well. He also sent the Holy Spirit to be with us and guide us and April helped us illustrate that point.

We had a wonderful meeting with Pastor Edgar and Pastora Maribel. We had the opportunity to share our testimonies with them and in the end we prayed for Pastor and his family, their new projects, goals and dreams. 

We went grocery shopping. This week we want to bless 12 families with grocery bags-but more importantly we want to remind them that the Lord never forgets about us and of His love.

Once we got back the fun part started. We made an assembly line to pack all the groceries and once we were done we prayed for all these families that will be blessed this week.

This morning we started our paint project. We want the church to look as beautiful as it can so we are working hard to complete it.

We were able to accomplish a lot today. God is good and He has kept us in good spirits. We pray that He will give us the strength to finish.

Today was our first day of food distribution and we can say that God is always with all of us. We heard stories from families in the community. At the end we prayed for each family-blessing them with groceries.

Today at the Women's Ministry we had a wonderful time. Jessie shared her testimony and encouraged women to stop comparing, coveting and competing with each other and instead to be united and share our struggles so we can heal. 

The elders of this community have a strong faith and wonderful testimonies. We got to spend time with them and play some fun games. Dennise reminded them that their stories can help and encourage younger generations in their family and community.

At the end of today's message in Elderly Ministry we had a time where we prayed for each other, we know that we all have struggles in our lives but God always teaches us to share among sisters in Christ and pray for each other.

Today we start the second day of painting projects and we are ready to get to work! We grabbed some brushes and rollers and started painting. We really see the excitement of the church community with this project and we hope to continue supporting them throughout the week in any way we can!

This is our second day of the paint project. It is very hot here but we trust that the Lord will give us the energy and the strength to finish it and honor Him and the local church with our work!

What a wonderful time we had today! We had the chance to decorate a journal. The ladies had the chance to sit and talk to each other as sisters in Christ. Cindy shared with us the importance of allowing Jesus to heal our broken hearts.

Today at the men's ministry we had a lot of fun. We were able to play many games and share with new people. We closed the time of activities with a volleyball game!

Today Mrs. Ginger shared about Peter walking on the water. When Jesus called him and he got out of the boat he wasn't afraid because his eyes were fixed on Him.  We can do everything with Jesus.

Faith makes us stronger but fear sinks us. 

Today Pastor Edgar and Austin gave very powerful messages about being brave men in God but having trust, faith and obedience in Him. In the end we were able to close the meeting with a prayer to encourage all men to be leaders in their community!

Today was the last day of food distribution and we can say that God has been good. Being able to visit the families and pray for each one of them has shown us how God works in different ways to bless his children.

Our hearts are full when we see all the work that God has allowed to be done in the community of Lagunilla. Having the chance to see friends who have become family and visit them every year has been a great blessing in our lives.

Today we were able to finish the paint project. It has been hard but the Lord has been so good and faithful to us. He continued to renew our strength every day. 

Today on our last day of VBS we learned with the children about the good Samaritan. We have to love our neighbors and we can always help those who need us!

We had a really fun time with the kids at VBS,. We played with them and they were very excited. We made teams and started playing!

We had a prayer walk. It was a very powerful and special time where we prayed for requests and people in the community. 

We prayed for the church and thanked God for how the church has been a pillar for the community and the work they have done during all these years.

We can’t wait to see how God will continue working in the life of each person in Lagunilla.

We had two birthdays this week and tonight we got to celebrate them with our local church. We even sang Happy Birthday in Spanish! Austin and Denise will never forget their birthday in Costa Rica. The Lord is good and faithful, we are so grateful for that!
