Aloha from Kauai!

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 8, 2024 12:42 AM

After a late arrival last night, the team participated in church service at Ohana Christian Fellowship. We were blessed to hear the word from Pastor Gabe and Pastor Benny. We also enjoyed a hula dance by the women of the congregation. Plus, a dance and song by the Keiki (kids). What a blessing it was to be apart of their service today.

Thankfulness, Aloha and Ohana

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 8, 2024 12:49 AM

After church we partook in the jubilee. This jubilee was had to celebrate all that God has provided and that He will provide, love (Aloha), and family (Ohana). Thankful for the connections and memories made.

Prayer request: Please join us in prayer for Ohana Christian Fellowship as they find what is next for them locationally and that they will remain reliant and focused on the Lord.

Afternoon Hike

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 8, 2024 11:19 AM

After the Jubilee, while some went grocery shopping for the week, others went on a hike at Sleeping Giant, also known as, NouNou Mountain. The hike was filled with amazing views of God's beautiful creation.

VBS Day One

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 8, 2024 3:14 PM

We had our first morning of VBS with Ohana Baptist Church and it was a blast. We sang songs, played games, listened to Bible stories, and enjoyed arts and crafts. Here you see the kids playing games outside with Pastor John.

Bags of Blessings

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 8, 2024 10:00 PM

After a full morning of VBS we were able to go and hand out “blessing bags” to the houseless community. These bags were filled with snacks and hygiene items. In addition to every bag, we prayed for those we gave them to and ended up handing out 45 bags.

Crazy Cool Canyons

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 10, 2024 12:04 PM

This afternoon we journeyed over to Waimea Canyon to see some spectacular overlooks together. After that some of us went on a small hike while others went to the pier before coming back together for dinner at Big Monster Sushi and Thai.

Final Day of VBS

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 10, 2024 3:43 PM

Our last day of VBS was full of fun but also hard goodbyes. Today at Bible story with Miss Patsy, we learned all about heaven; what it will look like, how people will act and feel, and those we will see.

Time for School!

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 11, 2024 5:04 PM

Yesterday afternoon and this morning we were able to connect with a local school called Lelo Christian Academy. Here they serve students across every grade level and provide them education both academically and spiritually. Please pray for their school year that begins August 1st.

Fruitful Time

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 12, 2024 1:09 AM

This afternoon we were blessed with the opportunity to serve at a member of the congregation’s home that is also her family farm. We got a tour of their property, enjoyed some of their delicious fruit, and then did a variety of jobs. We cut down bamboo, cared for the chickens, cleaned up an old hog trap, and trimmed hedges. We were then able to just connect with them through talking, learning a hula dance and then praying with them.

Puka Dogged Out

by Elizabeth Braaten | July 12, 2024 8:18 PM

We spent the morning out at Poipou Beach where we swam, snorkeled, and enjoyed the beautiful sun. We also got the chance to see sea turtles and a seal lying on the beach. We ended our time having puka dogs and lemonade.
