Tonight the team arrived safely in Lake Charles. The PPM team, Mount Olive Baptist Church, and SWLA Responds are beyond excited to partner with us this week and serve God and others in the local community.
After our arrival, we had a great orientation and time of fellowship. In the morning we have the pleasure of visiting Mount Olive Baptist Church for their Sunday service.
As we begin our week please pray for our team to be a light to others and show the love of Jesus to every person we encounter throughout the week. Also pray that our team can grow closer as a group, and that what we start here would continue as we go home, and we can impact the Midlothian, TX community as well.
We appreciate all of you back home supporting and praying for us.
God bless

We had an amazing time worshipping the Lord at Mount Olive Baptist Church this morning alongside our co-laborers from Lindale, TX.
Pastor Braylon delivered a powerful message based off the Parable of the prodigal son from Luke 15.
Here is an excerpt from Pastor Braylon's sermon. "There is not a life worth living that does not involve labor. There is no destiny without difficulty. At any given time, you will find yourself in a field that will involve work. There is a field in which you will be solo and there is a field in which you will be supported. There is a field in which you can't eat neither the seed nor the harvest and there is a field in which you can eat both the seeds and harvest. There is a field in which you are a slave and there is a field in which you are a son. There is a field in which what you do is more important than who you are and there is a field in which you are more important than what you do–the choice is yours to make."
Praise be to God for the truth of His Word.
We were blessed!!

After the service, Pastor Braylon met with us to share about the different places we will be working at this week.
We were reminded that building relationships with the people we will be working for is more important than the projects. It was very important for us to know the "why" behind the projects we are going to be helping with.
Lake Charles was hit 5 times consecutively by hurricanes, floods and a freeze. We can still see the aftermath of those disasters even after 3 years.
We are blessed to be a part of the efforts to assist, encourage and build up the Lake Charles community this week.

One of our projects this week is painting sister Joan's house.
Sister Joan is battling a stage 3 cancer. Her wish is to make her house as welcoming as it can possibly be for visitors. A fresh coat of paint will definitely help make that happen.
This morning, along with the ChristPoint team, we laid hands on the house and prayed for the place and sister Joan. We believe that God can heal her if it is His will.
In the meantime, we are covering her with love and care. We are blessed to be a part of sister Joan's story.
God bless you, sister Joan!

Painting involves a lot of preparation. Some of us were delegated to wash and tape around the windows and trim before we started painting.
It was a productive day!!

On Sunday afternoon we went to a local park to pray over it. This afternoon we return with hot dogs and games to serve and play with the people at the park.
Many of us had a chance to pray with people and hear their stories.
We look forward to another good day tomorrow, Lord willing.

We spent the day sorting and reorganizing a shed at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Mount Olive is a hub for many mission teams and relief organizations when hurricanes hit the region.
They have a shed that has many things that mission teams are able to use to carry out their projects, including us this week. But was a bit chaotic in there. Our Praying Pelican Missions leader asked us to help putting the shed in order so that other mission teams can find what they need much faster and easier.
We were glad that we could help prepare for future teams and future projects.

Today First United cleared out an entire shed full of Mount Olive's and Praying Pelicans' supplies, reorganized it, and put it back in. The kids were absolutely amazing workers. Watching them do so much throughout the day was a blessing, and it was incredible to see the passion they worked with. This project will help many future projects at the church and aid many PPM teams in the future as well, It was a small deposit that will pay huge dividends.

We had the opportunity to help beautify the bathrooms at the park we went to on Monday to do ministry.
