St John Evangelical Lutheran Church

This morning, we attended church at Vicco Church of God, and we learned about that church’s history. We then went back to our housing site, Twin Rocks Bible Camp, for a pizza lunch. We shared some nice downtime before our first work day tomorrow. We ended our day with a taco soup dinner and a devotion with worship. Pray for our work tomorrow and the rest of the week!

We played some exciting rounds of the game Spoons today! We had some downtime after lunch (before getting back to work) and decided to play one of our favorite games! It was a hoot and a half, and we hope to play some more this week!

Today, we’re spending time at a local food pantry, volunteering to help with anything they need. One of those things happened to be shucking cabbage. As we were shucking the cabbage someone said pulling off the bad leaves is like what Jesus did to us. Seeing Jesus in the little things. 

This evening was Taco Tuesday, so we dined on Tacos and Trip Leader Tiffany’s fried ice cream! We also had birthday cake to celebrate Cindy’s birthday! She’s been a trooper on this trip, and we’re so glad she got to share her birthday with us!

Today we faced the challenge of sorting through and helping organize a local baby pantry that just needed a good reboot. The local baby pantry assists women and babies in the Hazard community with baby formula, clothes, furniture, and anything a new baby will need to come into the world. We were happy to assist them in getting organized to better help their community 

Today we are headed back home. Before we left we got to enjoy fellowship with the team we were serving alongside. We formed amazing relationships and friendships and our lives are forever changed.
