United in Service: Alabama and Texas Missionary Groups Join Forces in Barahona

by Francisco Martinez | May 29, 2023 7:47 PM

FBC Athens and First Frisco Youth have come together to serve the community of Barahona at the Casa de Gracia church, led by Pastor Ruperto. By combining their resources and talents, they aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of the people in Barahona.

These missionary groups, motivated by their shared faith and commitment to service, are working hand in hand to address various needs in the community. Their diverse skills complement each other perfectly from construction, VBS, spiritual guidance, and food distribution. Together, they demonstrate the power of unity and collaboration, transcending geographical boundaries and cultural differences. They are grateful to the community of Barahona for their warm welcome and look forward to leaving a positive, lasting impression while building bridges of friendship.

Let us join hands with these incredible groups and witness the transformative power of love and service in Barahona.

A Transformative Prayer Walk

by Francisco Martinez | May 29, 2023 8:03 PM

We embarked on our prayer walk with a common goal in mind: to pray, share, and create relationships with the community. The local church members led the way; some of the missionaries shared their experiences and stories, inspiring the community with a deeper compassion and understanding.

Praying at the Basketball Court

While we were walking through the community we saw a group of young people playing basketball. We stopped there for a moment and Pastor John shared with the boys a bit of his story about when he was a teenager like them and the decision he made to accept Christ in his Heart. Your life has been blessed for all these years that you have been serving the Lord and you are not sorry or ashamed of making the decision to follow Christ. I invite the boys that they too can accept Christ in their hearts and be transformed and blessed by the power of Christ.  We ended with a prayer.

Day 1 in Construction

by Francisco Martinez | May 30, 2023 6:27 PM

Today we were in the town of Bahoruco helping to build a church in that place. Pastor Ruperto made a commitment to the pastor of that church in Bahoruco, He is helping and supporting that community.

If the Lord does not build a house,
then those who build it work in vain.
If the Lord does not guard a city,

then the watchman stands guard in vain.  (Psalm 127:1)

VBS Day 1

by Francisco Martinez | May 30, 2023 9:01 PM

Vacation Bible School at Pastor Ruperto's church was an exciting and enriching experience for children of all ages. One of the highlights of this VBS was the captivating storytelling session about the timeless tale of David and Goliath. As the children gathered around, their eyes widened with anticipation as they listened intently to the story of courage, faith, and triumph against all odds.

To add an element of fun and engagement, music was brought to life by lively puppet performances. The kids giggled and clapped along as the puppets energetically sang songs related to the story, making the lessons even more memorable. Through the combination of visual storytelling and cheerful music, the children not only learned about David's bravery but also felt connected to the Biblical narrative on a deeper level.

At the end of each session, the children had the opportunity to participate in a hands-on craft activity. Guided by dedicated missionaries, the young artists were encouraged to create their own crosses, symbolizing the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for humanity. With vibrant colors, glitter, and their boundless imagination, the children poured their hearts into the craft, knowing that their creations would serve as a reminder of Jesus' love and sacrifice.

Good Bye Service

by Francisco Martinez | June 1, 2023 12:25 PM

In this farewell service, we all sing together and we rejoice in the love of Christ for all the blessings received during the week.
Pastor John preached about the power of God that operated in Jesus and that it can also be ours if we accept him, walk with him and do his will.
I invite everyone present to trust in God first, which is the most important thing, then the rest will follow.
