Late May in Alaska

We visited Hatcher’s Pass for a chance to see a little of this amazing state. There is still a lot of snow up here. The road to the gold mine is still blocked.

Wow! The Views

by Rick Millikin | May 21, 2023 7:14 PM

No matter where you look, the views are amazing. We’re taking a little downtime after serving all morning with IMPACT Alaska. We had a chance to serve in multiple locations to bless the community of Wasilla.  We will post photos of our experiences today a little later.

Our Host - Little Beaver Camp

by Rick Millikin | May 21, 2023 10:01 PM

We are here and ready to start a week of hard work! Our gracious hosts, Rick and Trudy, (far left), and their daughter, Natalia ( far right), have gone above and beyond to welcome us, and provide amazing meals. Tomorrow begins our work projects of prepping the camp for their first week of young campers.

by Rick Millikin | May 24, 2023 3:07 PM

Believe it or not, this lake was covered in ice just three weeks ago. It’s all thawed and ready to accept the blob again. Can we stay dry?

Worship Time

by Rick Millikin | May 24, 2023 3:25 PM

It has been good to connect at the end of each day and hear about everything God was able to accomplish through our hands and hard work. We hear from His Word and reflect on how it impacts our lives. We appreciate Dave and Ash for the music.

Food!

by Rick Millikin | May 26, 2023 7:33 PM

Due to the heavy work happening throughout the week, the camp staff fed us very very well. This is camp manager Rick topping off some desserts.

Stepping up to the challenge

by Rick Millikin | May 26, 2023 7:40 PM

One of the dorm entry stairs was in disrepair. We were able to rebuild the entire stairway, making it much safer for the upcoming camp season.

Event Time!

by Rick Millikin | May 26, 2023 7:42 PM

There was a need for a very large outdoor tent for the upcoming camp. It took several of us, but we managed to get this thing in the air without any instructions!!

Prayer for Little Beaver Camp Managers

by Rick Millikin | May 26, 2023 8:04 PM

Just as we were loading up to leave the camp, camp managers, Trudy, and Rick, and two new lifeguards stop by to say thank you and goodbye. We had a chance to pray for them as a group, and we truly pray that all of the hard work and effort this week helps them rest assured that the 180 high school campers that are arriving Monday will find a place of refreshing and can encounter Christ in amazing ways.

Hiking to Byron Galcier

by Rick Millikin | May 26, 2023 8:06 PM

It’s recreation day and we’re excited to take a hike and unwind. We hiked past an avalanche to one of the many glaciers found in this beautiful state.

They are disappearing

by Rick Millikin | May 26, 2023 8:09 PM

All of the glaciers in Alaska have been receding for many years.  Notice the beautiful cobalt blue to the left. That’s the face of the glacier.

So god pulled off a huge medical miracle well back in 2020 I had Covid and other sickness on top of it in the final 4 months of 2020 and then in 2021 I had severe bronchitis and severe stomach bug and severe dehydration and then in 2022 I was really sick for 1 year with really severe cough so we finally figured it out it was wheat and gluten that’s what is causing me to cough and boy it was a struggle but I almost lost faith several time over the last couple of years and I was challenging god to do something I was feeling awful but I was fighting and clawling my way out of these sickness it’s been one of toughest few years of my life my point whenever tough challenges in your life don’t give up don’t lose hope don’t lose faith don’t challenge god it’s not worth it I learned the hard way I got burned for it let god take care of the dirty work
