We have made it to Tucson after a long day of travel! We were welcomed by our praying pelican staff at Northwest Community Friends church. We are excited to get to meet the congregation we will be serving!

After we got settled at our host church, we went to “A” mountain. Here we took time to look out over the city and pray for the community, our week, and the ministry we will be doing. We’re excited to start at our ministry sites and get to share the love of Jesus.

This afternoon we truly saw God working through this community. At the soccer camp we helped run, we had 45 kids who were all so excited to be here. We talked to many parents and heard many of their stories and testimonies. Many of us felt so touched by the children and families we met today. We are so excited for another day of camp tomorrow.

Today a group of us worked on clearing out the paths and fire pit around the cross at the church. We burned and moved lots of brush out of this area. The hopes with cleaning out this area is to make it a great place to commune. It helps shed a spotlight on this cross that the community will want to take a moment and rest at to take time with God.

On Tuesday we finished leveling the dirt and gravel in the parking lot. This took lots of man power but we were able to finish the project! This helped make this project a lot more attainable for the church. The end goal is for the side walk to go on top of the gravel.

This morning we were able to go to gospel rescue mission. Here we were able to help this ministry prepare a bit for their big Easter hand out, where they are able to give back so much to the community on a special day. We also created hundreds of hygiene kits to be distributed. This ministry is so heartwarming and refreshing to see how hard they work to serve all those in need in the Tuscon area. It was such a special time to see and hear about this program.

This morning another part of our team went to Gap warehouse. Their ministry centers around “standing in the gap for widows and orphans.” Here the girls priced various items in their warehouse. Lots and lots of price tags.

Thursday was rec day! We did a short scenic walk/ hike in Sabino canyon. It was so great to see some more areas around Tuscon! Along the way we found this dam/ waterfall that we had fun playing at. Then we enjoyed lunch at an authentic Mexican restaurant!
