Hitting the Ground Runningby Ronda Baldwin | March 27, 2023 10:10 PM
We arrived in West KY and started immediately with mudding and taping drywall for tornado victims in Dawson Springs. We were able to get a good 4 hours of work in on day one and are excited to start again in the morning.
Stories Matterby Ronda Baldwin | March 27, 2023 10:13 PM
Our homeowner, Stephen, came in and told us he and his wife, Kelly's, story of the night of the tornado. They lost their house, their parent's next door, their brother's on the back of their property, and 6.5 of 7 barns along with several horses and chickens. He was so grateful for our help so he and Kelly can start painting on their spring break next week.
Meeting Mr. Scottby Ronda Baldwin | March 28, 2023 9:00 PM
We finally got to start on our original assigned project this morning. The day started by listening to Scott's story of the night of the tornado. His dog woke him up just as the tornado hit and threw his trailer into a tree. He's blessed to be alive and was so thankful for our help.
Don't Break My Shower!by Ronda Baldwin | March 28, 2023 9:04 PM
Scott was a bit concerned about his shower unit breaking when the drywall was installed. He jumped in to make sure Joe was very careful.
Mud and More Mudby Ronda Baldwin | March 28, 2023 9:11 PM
We were able to get the whole house mudded and taped in one day, even the bathroom that was just drywalled today! Sanding tomorrow...
T-Shirt Day #1by Ronda Baldwin | March 28, 2023 9:16 PM
We wore the t-shirts Nikki designed today. You can tell "some" of us worked ;)
That's a LOT of Dust!by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2023 11:15 PM
We spent all day sanding and remudding Scott's house. It felt like an uphill battle at first, but by the end of the day we had hope that paint will be going on the walls tomorrow.
Lunch Time by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2023 11:16 PM
It was a beautiful day to eat lunch outside and let the dust settle for a bit. The Lord brings sweet fellowship when we serve together.
Doing the "Dishes"by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2023 11:18 PM
Pastor John has become our resident "dish washer" at the end of each day. We're not sure if he likes it, but we're thankful.
Done.by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2023 11:20 PM
Sometimes you just have to rest. Even at the foot of a tree ravaged by a tornado. We've been reminded this week that the Lord is in it all.
Friends.by Ronda Baldwin | March 29, 2023 11:23 PM
One of the best parts of this week is having a homeowner who jumps in to work alongside us, swaps stories, and has become a little less of a "grumpy introvert" (as he described himself at first). We love Scott, and he's warmed up to us, too!
Thanksgiving Bible Studyby Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 6:56 AM
Last night we were blessed to share a Thanksgiving meal, communion, worship, and time in the Word with our host church, Parkview UMC. It was a beautiful time of connection and fellowship, and we got to see so many ways God knits our hearts together with the common thread of Jesus.
*Unfortunately our leader fell asleep before finishing this post last night. She is sorry.
Start of the Last Dayby Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 11:28 PM
Last day of work. We need to finish sanding, clean, prime, and put in two coats of paint. Can we do it???
Devotional Breakby Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 11:32 PM
Our new friend, Scott, joined us for our devotion at lunch. It was such a blessing to talk about Nehemiah with a man who has had to be so patient with the building process of his house.
Prime Time by Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 11:33 PM
We finished sanding and cleaning by lunch time, which meant the primer got to go on right after lunch. Progress!
It Takes Everyone's Hands by Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 11:35 PM
There's nothing better than when the homeowner jumps in to help. Working alongside Scott and hearing his story was the best part of the week.
Joy in the Journeyby Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 11:36 PM
It was a long, hard day of work, but seeing Scott's home come together kept joy flowing in all of it.
Blessing the Homeby Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 11:39 PM
Before we left, we were able to write scripture on the door posts of Scott's home. The Lord spoke specific messages to each of us to share with him why those verses were written there.
The Friendship Wallby Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 11:41 PM
All of us and Scott signed the friendship wall. Even under the soon to be installed door frame, we hope that these words will be a reminder of the life of Jesus poured into this home and into Scott himself.
Prayer of Blessingby Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 11:43 PM
We each got to share the meanings of our chosen scripture blessings with Scott before joining hands and praying over him and his home. It was a special time of connection with many tears for all of us.
Done!by Ronda Baldwin | March 30, 2023 11:46 PM
After dinner we were able to finish the second coat of paint. The Lord worked in so many ways to enable us to finish far more than what we came to do. Scott has beautiful, finished walls, and we have new friends that we have come to love dearly in a short amount of time. It's been an awesome week!
