AXIS Student Ministry

The team has arrived safely at the Houston partner church MBC! Hallelujah! We kicked off the trip with getting to know each other, musical worship, the Word of God, a time of confession, and casting vision for our week. All praise to King Jesus.

After church we went to explore ABNC nature center in the toasty weather. We got to observe some pretty cool crocodiles, bison, and snakes. 

This afternoon we split up into 10 teams and went throughout the neighborhood near Lifebridge church. We went door-to-door to speak with the community and seek out needs for help and prayer. We had several great conversations, identified some needs and invited others to church. It took us out of our comfort zones a bit but it was a great way to show that the church cares for the community. 

Care packages have been filled and prayed over!

This afternoon we are doing some carpentry!  We’re building a giant wooden crown for MBC’s upcoming Easter Sunday service!

The team was blessed to spend time praising our God through musical worship provided by some of their teammates tonight! We sang unashamed to the One whose imminent beauty commands each breath to be released as a cry, word, or whisper of praise. All praise to King Jesus. 

This morning the team is split up between Impact Houston and Loaves and Fishes! We are serving food to our brothers and sisters struggling with homelessness. 

Our team did an amazing job serving over 200 families today. We loaded up food in people’s cars as they drove through. 

This afternoon our team helped deep clean some equipment at Meals on Wheels. This equipment is used to help transport meals to hundreds of homebound seniors in Houston. 

To end our day, the entire team helped out at MBC’s Community Garden. We helped build a butterfly garden for home school co-ops and Little Steps Preschool.

Last night we celebrated Payton’s birthday which had a frog theme. Frogs are not her favorite thing but she did try the frog legs her leaders got for the party! I was a fun time. 

On our final night of ministry we had the opportunity to serve food to over 300 families  at Impact Houston’s drive through food pantry. For many of these families this is the food they’ll have for the next few days. Our team did an amazing job and with so much energy and passion!

Our team went out in groups to connect with the homeless population in downtown Houston and give out care packages they assembled. They had some amazing conversations and shared the gospel and prayed with many. What a tremendously courageous group!

Today was our fun & recreation day. 

We all went to the pleasure pier in Galveston where we enjoyed the waterfront amusement area with all kinds of fun games, rides and food  

What an amazing week of ministry!

We saw God working through the lives of every team member this week to witness to and serve the church and community of the greater Houston area.
