Aloha!

by Alissa Danielson | March 24, 2023 11:33 AM

We arrived to Kaua'i right on schedule! Our first reactions to the green island were "it's so humid here!" and "there are so many chickens!" We look forward to partnering with Pastor Jaime of the Lawai Valley and Kapaa Seventh Day Adventist Churches this week.

Pastor Jaime

by Alissa Danielson | March 24, 2023 11:36 AM

Pastor Jaime met us at church once we were settled in to introduce himself and share a little about his time on the island. He has been pastoring these churches for 3 years, and lives on Kaua'i with his wife and daughter.

Beach Vespers

by Alissa Danielson | March 24, 2023 12:48 PM

We joined the youth of Pastor Jaime's churches at the beach on Friday night for dinner and some games on the beach. It was fun enjoying the water, playing volleyball and ultimate frisbee, and meeting new people.

Seeing God in the Middle of the Field

by Orlando Morales Cintron | March 25, 2023 3:07 AM

Today we have the opportunity to serve in uncle Paul field. This is a beautiful place that reminds each member of the team of the greatness and grace of God. The students of Rio Lindo serve and put their best effort on to show God’s love through their work.

Uncle Sunny's Yard

by Alissa Danielson | March 27, 2023 10:13 PM

A few of us had the opportunity to assist an elder of Kapa'a Seventh Day Adventist Church with some tree trimming. He prepared a delicious meal for our whole team in thanksgiving!

Aunty Stella's Yard

by Alissa Danielson | March 27, 2023 10:14 PM

While some of us were at the garden, and others were at Uncle Sunny's, the rest of us spent time with Aunty Stella and assisted with some yardwork. Aunty Stella told us many stories and showed us her beautiful orchids.

Church Potluck

by Alissa Danielson | March 27, 2023 10:18 PM

After church on Sabbath, members of our partner church hosted us for a church potluck. We were able to try many delicious foods, including poi, a food made from the taro root.

Sabbath Hike

by Alissa Danielson | March 27, 2023 10:19 PM

We spent the remainder of our Sabbath enjoying a hike with Pastor Jaime to Nounou Mountain, otherwise known as Sleeping Giant. It was a nice way to spend our Sabbath.

Ken-Yen Learning Center

by Alissa Danielson | March 27, 2023 10:27 PM

Our whole team was able to serve a local homeschool coop that is run by members of the church. It is their spring break too, so we were able to paint, clean, garden, landscape, and organize in order to help them be ready to return to school for the remainder of the year.

Kauai Coffee Company

by Alissa Danielson | March 27, 2023 10:28 PM

We visited Kauai Coffee Company, the largest coffee estate in the United States! We sampled coffee, ordered drinks, took a self-guided tour, and enjoyed looking at the countless rows of coffee beans.

Kahu Kerry

by Alissa Danielson | March 27, 2023 10:30 PM

Part of our group met a pastor who serves in West Kauai, Kahu (Pastor) Kerry and her husband Peter. We assisted with a few tasks around both of their church campuses, such as: cleaning, organizing, painting, and hardwork. Kahu said there is always so much work to do behind the scenes in order to allow her and her church to do the "living ministry" to the community. It was a blessing to come alongside her and the ministry in Eleele and Kahaka today.
