First Baptist Church-Newcastle

This is the staff: Zoe, Naty, Laura, Daniel, Erick, Nazaret and Maikel. We are ready and excited for the upcoming week and what God has for us.

We made it safe and sound to Costa Rica! We are excited for the work this week and to again meet our brothers and sisters in Christ from the local community.

We had the opportunity to worship and share the Word with the congregation of Alto Jabui. We are grateful and blessed to be reunited with our Costa Rican family.

Each house is an opportunity to share and pray for one another.

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” ‭‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT

For our construction project in the mountain, the team will be building two classrooms for Sunday Bible School and painting the fence in front of the church in Alto Jabui.

Today we embrace the culture. We were able to learn about the process of making chocolate and how it is made in this area. God is good!

At today’s VBS the children learned about the fisher of men.

“Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”

Today we had the opportunity to share about spiritual growth and the fruits of the Holy Spirit with each of the women of Alto Jabui.

During food distribution we shared home devos and got to know some family backgrounds. We listened to stories and testimonies. It was a blessing to know that every person has a story to share because of Jesus Christ.

Today we keep working in construction. These are the foundations and walls for the new classrooms in Alto Jabui Church 

It's extraordinary how God reveals his love by providing through simple things; distributing food allows us to interact with families and learn about what they have gone through.

“Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬

What a lovely week we had with the women in Carbon learning about the armor of God in Ephesians 6:10. These are great women who take good care of their families. We gave them prayer journals as an encouragement in their walk with Jesus.

We had an epic soccer game in Alto Jabui with the locals. We gave everything we got, however, the locals won the game 7-1. We had so much fun!

What a wonderful time we had with the men in Carbon talking about pride. We played games, ate pizza, talked about the origin of pride in the Bible, and listened to the testimonies of the guys in our group who were vulnerable and shared how pride affected their relationship with God and with others.

Today at VBS the children could play, share and learn about the story of Acts 10 about Peter and Cornelius.

After a hard week of work and serving in the communities of Alto Jabui and Carbon we are on our rec day we went to Punta Uva to spend half of the day and then headed to Puerto Viejo for lunch and souvenir shopping.
